O Technology / OMNIREAL, a Fervo Group company owning and developing a proprietary IoT / BEMS / BACS smart building and energy optimisation platform, is looking to add a senior technical resource to support the technological and operational scale-up of the platform, internally referred to as FEAMS.
Prior knowledge of FEAMS is not required, and it should not be assumed that the platform is already known in the market.
What is essential is a strong technical and operational background in HVAC systems, combined with the ability to translate field experience into energy analysis, control logic, diagnostics, root cause identification and scalable digital platform solutions.
The mission of the role is to internalise, structure and operationalise within Fervo Group the technical know-how required to analyse the energy and functional behaviour of HVAC systems in buildings, identify the real root causes of inefficiencies, and translate those findings into platform logic, dashboards, algorithms, reports, alerts and repeatable tools.
The person will work closely with the international consultant, the Italian software development team, BMS/BACS specialists, and the Fervo Group Energy Services and Technical Services teams, with the objective of turning technical and operational HVAC know-how into a scalable digital product, an industrialised methodology and a stable internal capability.
The role is intended to support both the domestic development of the platform and its future international expansion.
This is not a purely theoretical energy engineering role. The core background must be HVAC.
The ideal candidate is a senior engineer with solid hands-on experience in HVAC systems, commissioning, O&M, plant operation, performance evaluation and control logic, who has subsequently developed strong capabilities in energy analysis and digital energy optimisation.
The candidate must understand the actual operating philosophy of HVAC systems: how a chiller plant behaves in practice, how AHUs/FAHUs, fan coils, split units, DX systems, VRF/VRV systems, pumps, valves, sensors, set points, schedules, control sequences and BMS/BACS logic interact in real buildings.
The energy specialisation is highly relevant, but it must be built on top of previous and consolidated operational experience in HVAC systems.
- Acquire from the international consultant the methodology for analysing consumption, system performance and HVAC inefficiencies.
- Convert the transferred know-how into internal procedures, checklists, analysis models, anomaly libraries and working tools for the O Technology / OMNIREAL team.
- Monitor and analyse real-time and historical data from HVAC equipment, BMS/BACS, meters, sensors, IoT devices, CMMS and third-party systems.
- Identify the root causes of abnormal consumption, poor performance, inefficient operating patterns, thermal drift, degradation and deviations from expected baselines.
- Define and support optimisation logic for chiller plants, variable flow pumping systems, AHUs/FAHUs, fan coils, DX systems, split units, VRF/VRV systems, ventilation, domestic hot water and other HVAC systems.
- Support the software team by translating HVAC and energy requirements into functional specifications for graphical user interfaces, dashboards, alerts, reports and workflows.
- Build and maintain an HVAC root cause library, including recurring inefficiencies, technical causes and corrective actions to be progressively systematised into the platform.
- Contribute to the development of SEU Kits and Energy Conservation Measures applicable to different building types and markets.
- Support Italian and international pilots during data gathering, installation, commissioning, functional verification and savings validation.
- Contribute to the definition of baselines, energy KPIs, savings models and Measurement & Verification criteria, including IPMVP, EN 16247 or equivalent methodologies.
- Support Sales, Business Development and Energy Services in the technical qualification of opportunities, business case development and preparation of technical-commercial material.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of the platform’s analytics, alerting and reporting logic from a domain-expert perspective.
- Native or equivalent proficiency in Italian, essential to work effectively with the Italian technical team, software developers, operational stakeholders, field technicians and local clients.
- Fluent written and spoken English, required to work directly with the international consultant, document the know-how transfer and contribute to the structuring of the methodology.
- Degree in Mechanical, Energy, Electrical Engineering or equivalent technical background.
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in HVAC system design, commissioning, O&M, operation, maintenance, performance evaluation, control or optimisation.
- Solid experience with HVAC systems in commercial buildings, hotels, offices, retail, data centres or multi-site real estate portfolios.
- Strong knowledge of chillers, pumps, cooling towers, AHUs/FAHUs, fan coils, split units, DX systems, VRF/VRV systems, boilers, domestic hot water, ventilation and distribution systems.
- Ability to read HVAC schematics, hydraulic diagrams, control sequences, BMS/BACS trends, field data and operational logs.
- Knowledge of BMS/BACS systems, control logic, trend analysis, protocols and integrations such as BACnet, Modbus, APIs, gateways and data points.
- Ability to analyse consumption profiles, load curves, anomalies, schedules, set points, simultaneity, operating patterns and environmental conditions.
- Solid understanding of thermodynamic cycles, psychrometric processes, hydraulic systems, balancing issues and thermal imbalances.
- Knowledge of energy audits, Energy Conservation Measures, baselines, weather normalisation, energy KPIs and M&V logic.
- Familiarity with data analysis tools such as advanced Excel, Power BI or equivalent. SQL, Python or time-series analysis tools would be a plus.
- Certified Energy Manager, EGE according to UNI CEI 11339, CEM or equivalent international qualification.
- Robust knowledge of IPMVP, EN 16247 or equivalent international standards for energy audits and Measurement & Verification.
- Knowledge of ASHRAE standards.
- Previous experience in smart building, ESCo, energy optimisation, facility management, building automation or IoT platform environments.
- Experience in translating field engineering requirements into digital product features, dashboards, alerts or analytics logic.
- Strong practical and operational mindset.
- Ability to interact effectively with field technicians, maintenance teams, energy managers, software developers, sales teams, clients and external consultants.
- Ability to turn complex technical issues into clear rules, functional specifications and scalable solutions.
- Comfortable working in a scale-up environment, where processes and tools are still being built.
- Strong focus on delivery, standardisation and knowledge transfer.
- Business awareness, including savings, payback, margins, licensing and end-client value.
- Team player and change agent, able to collaborate across technical, operational, commercial and software teams.
The working location may be flexible, including outside Italy for the right candidate, provided that regular physical presence in Italy is ensured.
Presence at Fervo premises and/or pilot buildings will be essential, particularly during the know-how transfer phase, pilot analysis, software development alignment, field verification and consolidation of internal procedures.
The role may also support Fervo Group’s international development, including coordination with overseas operations where relevant.
The role should be considered as a full-time / long-term position, with an initial 18-month project horizon.
This initial phase is required to cover the full cycle of know-how transfer, development of application logic, pilot testing, savings validation and consolidation of internal capabilities.
As the technology grows and Fervo Group engages more demanding installations, these capabilities are expected to remain essential for both domestic development and international expansion.
- Internalisation of the technical-energy analysis methodology transferred by the consultant.
- Creation of an HVAC root cause library and related corrective actions.
- Definition of functional requirements for platform dashboards, alerts, reports and workflows.
- Support to the structuring of the main SEU Kits.
- Technical validation of pilot projects and savings models.
- Creation of internal procedures for audit, data gathering, commissioning, functional verification and continuous monitoring.
- Support to the automation of M&V reports and recurring energy performance analysis through the platform.
- Progressive autonomy of the O Technology / OMNIREAL team in consumption analysis and diagnosis of HVAC inefficiencies.
- Consolidation of a scalable methodology to support future roll-out in Italy and international markets.
