Location: Rome or Milan (Hybrid)
Salary : €80,000
Overview
Piper Maddox are working with a leading IPP that is looking to expand its team through the crucial addition of a Senior Grid Engineering Manager. This IPP focuses on building and operating a diversified portfolio of wind, solar, and energy storage assets across Europe and the US, with this role based in its Italian branch.
This role focuses on delivering grid connection and electrical engineering support for renewable energy projects across Italy. You will be involved from early feasibility through detailed design and grid agreement, working closely with internal teams and a wide range of external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead grid connection activities, from initial feasibility through to secured agreements with TSOs and DSOs.
- Review and compare grid connection solutions, considering cost, programme, and technical risk.
- Provide electrical engineering input to multiple projects, working alongside project, engineering, and commercial teams.
- Track regulatory and market changes affecting onshore transmission and assess their impact on project development.
- Engage with regulators, grid operators, and industry bodies as part of consultations and working groups.
- Develop HV and MV electrical concepts and designs across feasibility and detailed design stages.
- Specify and select major electrical equipment, including substations, transformers, and cabling.
- Support procurement and tender processes with technical evaluations and clarifications.
- Interface with equipment suppliers to validate solutions and ensure technical compliance.
Required Skills & Experience
- Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in grid and electrical engineering roles.
- Strong understanding of the Italian power market, grid codes, and connection processes (TERNA and E-Distribuzione).
- Full driving licence.
- Fluent in Italian and English.
