Role Context
As part of the continued structuring and professionalisation of our clients' investment platform, we are seeking a Senior Financial Controller - Controlling & Operations .
This is a key position at the intersection of finance, operations, and investment.
This is not a pure accounting role , but rather a finance and operations leadership position , acting as an internal financial control function , particularly during investment processes, and as a strategic partner to the investment teams and senior management.
Key Responsibilities
1. Financial Controlling & Platform Oversight
• Design, implement, and continuously improve a robust internal financial control framework for the platform and its investment vehicles.
• Oversee the accuracy, consistency, and reliability of financial information (budgets, forecasts, cash management, KPIs).
• Provide a consolidated view of the financial and operational performance of funds and group entities.
• Contribute to the structuring and optimisation of financial processes (closing, reporting, internal controls).
2. Investment Funds & Investor Reporting
• Oversee and manage Luxembourg fund structures (RAIF, SCSp, SICAV, etc.).
• Supervise capital calls , distributions, waterfall calculations , carried interest, and other fund economics.
• Ensure high-quality institutional LP reporting (quarterly reports, financial statements, investor notices).
• Act as the key point of contact for external service providers (fund administrators, auditors, depositaries, advisors).
3. Investment Process & Financial Due Diligence
• Actively participate in financial due diligence during the evaluation of new investment opportunities.
• Serve as a financial and risk validation filter , challenging assumptions, business plans, and transaction structures.
• Identify and assess financial, operational, liquidity, and structuring risks.
• Work closely with investment teams to support sound and well-informed investment decisions.
4. Operations & Continuous Improvement
• Identify and implement initiatives to professionalise and scale the platform (processes, tools, governance).
• Contribute to cross-functional projects, including new fund launches, capital raising initiatives, and regulatory developments.
• Proactively identify opportunities to optimise costs, workflows, and organisational efficiency.
Candidate Profile
Experience
• 8–12 years of experience in finance, ideally within:
• Private Equity / Venture Capital / Asset Management, or
• Big 4 Transaction Services / Deal Advisory with strong exposure to investment funds
• Proven experience with Luxembourg investment fund structures and their operational mechanics.
• Demonstrated involvement in financial due diligence processes.
Technical Skills
• Strong understanding of fund mechanics: capital calls, distributions, waterfalls, carried interest.
• Solid expertise in financial controlling and institutional investor reporting.
• Ability to analyse complex financial models and identify key risks.
• Comfortable operating in regulated, multi-stakeholder environments.
Soft Skills & Mindset
• Strong analytical mindset with a high level of rigour and attention to detail.
• Ability to challenge investment teams constructively while maintaining a collaborative approach.
• High degree of autonomy, ownership, and pragmatism.
• Excellent communication skills with senior stakeholders (LPs, partners, management).
Languages
• Fluent in English; Italian or French is a strong asset.
