Role purpose

This is a senior management accounting and finance operations role, responsible for month-end close, management reporting, and financial control across multiple European entities. You will consolidate inputs from internal teams and external accountants, bring data into a consistent picture, and provide clear reporting and variance commentary to Group Finance and FP&A.

You are not the CAPEX owner. You must understand CAPEX and work closely with the EU CAPEX Accountant to incorporate CAPEX and project cost data into the overall performance view for the entities you cover.

Key responsibilities

• Lead month-end close across multiple entities, including cut-off, reconciliations, accruals, provisions, fixed assets, intercompany where relevant, and supporting schedules.
• Produce monthly management reporting packs and variance analysis that are accurate, explainable, and investor-ready.
• Coordinate inputs from internal stakeholders and external accountants, ensuring timelines, data quality, and a strong audit trail.
• Maintain strong financial control: checklists, evidence, review standards, and issue resolution.
• Partner with FP&A on performance analysis, drivers, and forecasting inputs.
• Work with the EU CAPEX Accountant to integrate CAPEX reporting into the full entity picture and management reporting narrative.
• Improve processes and controls, including better use of SAP S/4HANA and standardised reporting templates.
• Support wider finance and business projects as required in a scaling environment.

Candidate profile

• Strong management accountant or finance lead with multi-entity exposure, ideally in a high-growth or scale-up environment.
• Comfortable operating with ambiguity and imperfect data. You can structure, reconcile, and explain.
• Infrastructure, energy, telecoms, construction-like, or other CAPEX-heavy experience is strongly preferred.
• Confident managing stakeholders and setting standards across teams and external providers.

Essential skills and experience

• 8+ years in accounting, close, and management reporting roles with clear ownership.
• Strong understanding of accrual accounting, reconciliations, and robust supporting schedules.
• ERP experience, SAP S/4HANA preferred. Advanced Excel.
• Strong written and verbal communication. Able to present financial information simply and clearly.
• English fluency. Italian required for the Milan base.
• Willingness to travel in Europe when needed.
