Project Engineering Manager (PEM) – Manifolds, Distribution and Connection Systems (MDC)
Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering teams to deliver complex subsea systems on time and on budget while turning challenges into predictable outcomes through strong project leadership.
The Project Engineering Manager will drive coordination, execution, and communication across multiple engineering product lines within a single project. This role ensures the successful completion of project activities on‑time and on‑budget, overseeing Products such as Structures (Manifolds, PLEM, PLETs, Pig L/R, etc.), Spools/Jumpers, Connections and Distribution Systems (SDU, UTAs, Umbilical, etc.). The PEM works directly with the SPS Project Engineering Manager, MDC Project Manager, and reports to the Global Engineering Manager for MDC Project Engineering Team.
Responsibilities
Communicate cross‑product engineering activities across structures, spools/jumpers, connection systems, and distribution systems to ensure on‑time, on‑budget delivery, while maintaining strong technical interfaces with internal and external stakeholders.
Drive integrated engineering planning, aligning schedules, manpower, milestones, and deliverables across multiple MDC product lines to meet project execution commitments.
Lead performance reviews and KPI tracking, monitor S‑curve progress, identify deviations, and implement corrective actions to maintain schedule and cost discipline.
Manage engineering budgets and resource plans, including cost analysis, forecasting, efficiency tracking, and approval of manpower required to execute project scope.
Own technical communication with clients, ensuring clarity of requirements, configuration control, and alignment with systems engineering on specifications and product changes.
Identify and manage risks, opportunities, and scope changes, ensuring proper approval, mitigation, and execution throughout the project lifecycle.
Support production and supply chain activities to maintain engineering ownership beyond document delivery and ensure part‑by‑part support through manufacturing.
Provide leadership and direction to MDC engineering teams, foster collaboration, issue resolution, and adherence to configuration control and project governance processes.
Qualifications
Hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering or a related technical field, or possess equivalent experience in project engineering or project management.
Have proven experience in project engineering, systems engineering, or project management, ideally within complex technical or Oil & Gas environments.
Demonstrate strong leadership and coordination skills, with the ability to influence cross‑functional teams and drive execution without direct authority.
Show expertise in integrated planning and execution, including scheduling, cost control, and performance management.
Possess excellent communication and presentation skills, capable of engaging customers, executives, and multidisciplinary engineering teams.
Exhibit strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities, with the capacity to synthesize information, identify issues, and drive timely solutions.
Be customer‑focused, able to manage technical relationships, understand requirements, and maintain alignment throughout execution.
Demonstrate resilience, ownership, and persistence, maintaining performance under pressure and ensuring deliverables are met despite challenges.
