For our plant in Naples, we are looking for a Senior Embedded SW Engineer to join our Engineering department.

The resource will be required to carry out planning, design, verification, and qualification activities for the embedded software that will be loaded onto the microprocessor of the electronic unit intended for flight.

Main Activities

  • Issuing plans and standards that will govern software development and ensure its airworthiness.
  • Developing and validating the SW architecture that will be able to meet the input requirements assigned to the SW.
  • Developing the Embedded SW that implements the developed architecture, complying with the defined standards and input and derived requirements.
  • Development of procedures for verifying the developed software to ensure that all requirements are met.
  • Performance of all tests defined by the verification procedures, with implementation of any modifications in the event of failure to pass the tests, and development of all report documentation.
  • Development of all documentation necessary for the qualification and certification of the software.
  • Support for defining the requirements of testing equipment used for software qualification and electronic unit qualification.
  • Support for all SW DESIGN QUALITY ASSURANCE MANAGEMENT activities. You will be required to manage and/or support the SW Design Quality Assurance (SQA) process in accordance with RTCA/DO178C and DO331 requirements, ensuring that the SW product output from the design process complies with airworthiness design requirements.
  • Issues and updates process quality assurance plans.
  • Issues and updates certification plans.
  • Issues and updates SW item configuration management plans.
  • Issues and updates SW development plans.
  • Issues and updates SW verification plans.
  • Collaborates in the drafting of SW standards.
  • Performs verification/inspection and witnessing activities on the execution of SW design activities.
  • Performs audits on problem reports and audits required by SW control plans.

Requirements

Hard Skills

  • Bachelor's/Master's degree in Computer Science/Electronics (e.g., Computer Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, Physics).
  • More than 5 years of experience in developing real-time embedded software for the aeronautical sector in accordance with RTCA DO 178 minimum level DAL B.
  • Fundamentals of programming and in-depth knowledge of languages: C, C++.
  • Use of electronic laboratory equipment.
  • Knowledge of programming techniques
  • Knowledge of programming languages
  • Knowledge of the main electronic components
  • Knowledge of microprocessors and microcontrollers and their internal architecture
  • Ability to read electrical diagrams
  • Ability to program and use electronic instruments to support debugging and testing of electronic boards with microprocessors: programmable power supply, multimeter, oscilloscope, function generators, pattern generators, logic state analyzers, communication bus analyzers, etc.
  • Windows, Office suite, and networking fundamentals.
  • Excellent knowledge of English, both written and spoken.
  • Experience in SW development on microcontrollers for real-time applications (without the use of operating systems).
  • Knowledge and experience in programming microcontroller peripherals (timers, counters, DIO, serial communication channels, etc.).
  • Knowledge of the main aeronautical communication protocols (AFDX (ARINC 664), ARINC 429, MIL-STD-1553B, CAN bus (ARINC 825), RS-422/RS-485).
  • In-depth knowledge and experience in the use of C, C++, and assembler languages.
  • Knowledge and experience in the development of PBIT, CBIT, and IBIT built-in test management software.
  • Knowledge of microprocessor-based electronic board architectures with single failure immunity requirements and/or remote probability of specific failures occurring.
  • Knowledge and experience in SW development using a Model Based Development and Verification approach
  • Knowledge and experience in the development of real-time embedded SW in accordance with the RTCA-DO 178C standard for Safety Critical applications up to at least DAL B.
  • In-depth knowledge of DO178C, DO330, and DO331 standards
