The Commercial Strategy Senior Director is part of the Global Portfolio and Medical Strategy Leadership Team. He / She is a key stakeholder for Franchise Heads and Commercial Operations & Execution Head (in CCO organization). He / She lead the Global Commercial Strategy for a cross-portfolio in Rx/Innovative portfolio (Established Rx, Specialty and Rare Diseases), accelerating growth and profitability. The Senior Director transforms data and insights into decisions, ensures successful launch and performance of strategic brands, defines go-to-market and geo-expansion strategies, and strengthens customer engagement and customer excellence globally, building capabilities and ensuring global-local alignment.

Your Role

  • Strategy & Portfolio Together with Franchise Heads, define the global Commercial Strategy for strategic brands (≥ €800 total revenues), with clear scope, priorities, ROI and milestones.
    Lead portfolio and brand planning (including Long Range Plan and budget), revenue forecasting, resource allocation and scenario planning through a data‑driven approach.
    Conduct market assessments and maximize go‑to‑market of our strategic brands.
  • Global & Local alignment Ensure strong Global‑to‑Local alignment, facilitating consistent insight sharing, harmonized KPIs, and cross‑market learnings to strengthen strategy development, resource allocation, and consistency in the Brand Plan strategy.
  • Market Research Lead Market Research initiatives to generate robust, actionable insights by designing, commissioning, and interpreting qualitative and quantitative studies (e.g., concept testing, ATU, segmentation, message recall, …), ensuring outputs directly inform brand strategy and key business decisions.
  • Business Intelligence, Insights & Forecasting Orchestrate data strategy and governance to ensure data quality, time‑to‑insight and forecast accuracy.
    Build an integrated Insight Engine (epidemiology, market dynamics, patient journey, promotional mix) to support Senior Leadership Team.
  • Marketing Excellence & Launch Excellence Establish global processes for Brand Plans, Launch Readiness, KPI setting and governance; ensure global‑local alignment on the strategy, support the CommOps Leads for the execution tracking.
    Ensure continuous improvement of the quality of our brand strategy and operation plans.
    Ensure excellence in launches (pre‑ and post‑launch), access readiness, and compliant promotional content and materials.
  • Customer Excellence & engagement Design and continuously evolve the global customer engagement strategy (visited and non‑visited targets), including HCP portals, remote engagement, approved emails and scientific events.
    Collaborate with Franchises to optimize segmentation, customer journey design and content personalization; define adoption metrics and quality‑of‑engagement indicators.
  • Geo‑Expansion & New Sources of Growth Collaborate with Commercial Operations & Execution and Franchise Heads to assess geographical expansion opportunities; define business cases and market penetration models.
    Support Business Development and affiliation initiatives from a commercial perspective.
  • Global Congresses & Events Ensure management and coordination of international congress activities and events. With key stakeholders (Franchise, Medical, Commercial Operations & Execution, countries) ensure strategic alignment, planning and impact measurement (KPIs) of key global congresses and events.
  • Governance & Compliance Ensure compliance with policies, ethical codes and regulations (promotional rules, privacy, interactions with HCPs and institutions).

Who Are you

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, science, engineering, minimum 10 years of experience in pharma/biotech, in commercial roles (Business Units and/or P&L management would be a plus) with some on commercial analytics, forecasting, and market insights
  • Knowledge of specialty care and/or rare diseases
  • Experience advising senior executives and leading cross‑functional initiatives
  • Proficiency in business analytics, forecasting tools, and data platforms (e.g., IQVIA, claims data, epidemiological sources)
  • Demonstrated success working in matrixed, global organizations
  • Expertise in primary and secondary market research, competitive intelligence, and forecasting methodologies
  • Entrepreneurial and innovation mindset with a strong commercial acumen
  • Strategic agility and ability to thrive in fast‑paced, evolving environments
