The Chips-IT Foundation is seeking Senior Researchers to lead and contribute to research and development initiatives focused on digital design and RISC-V architectures. The role involves designing, optimizing, and verifying high-performance, low-power digital systems for next-generation computing, IoT, and embedded applications. Senior Researchers will define design methodologies, drive hardware-software co-design innovation, and contribute strategically to the RISC-V ecosystem. Work can be conducted in Pavia or Bologna.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead research activities in digital design, including processors, accelerators, and SoCs based on RISC-V architecture.
- Define and oversee architecture, design, implementation, and verification of digital subsystems.
- Supervise and mentor junior researchers and students.
- Publish research outcomes and present at international conferences.
- Adopt emerging methodologies in digital design and verification.
- Collaborate with industry and academic partners on projects.
- Support development of proposals and R&D initiatives aligned with funding opportunities.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s or Ph.D. in Electrical or Computer Engineering, with a focus on digital design and processor architectures (Mandatory).
- Minimum 10 years of experience in digital hardware design.
- Proficiency in hardware description languages (Verilog, VHDL) and design tools.
- Extensive experience with RISC-V architecture, microarchitecture, and hardware-software co-design.
- Hands-on experience with chip tape-outs and bring-up in advanced CMOS / FinFET nodes.
- Knowledge of FPGA/ASIC design flows and system verification.
