About Amazon Leo

Amazon Leo is an initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will provide low‑latency, high‑speed broadband connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world.

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced and technically savvy Senior Corporate Counsel to join the Amazon Leo for Government Legal team. You will help Amazon Leo navigate new frontiers by reviewing government contract solicitations and proposals, providing guidance on subcontracts and technology development agreements, advising on intellectual property matters, and helping to ensure compliance with a wide range of U.S. and international government contracts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and analyze complex and novel legal issues with high visibility.
  • Work independently to deliver results and collaborate with legal and other stakeholders on strategic decisions.
  • Work closely with Amazon Leo's technical teams, regulatory teams, business teams, and other legal teams.

Location and Travel

This position will be based in Arlington, Virginia (HQ2) or Bellevue, Washington. Some domestic and international travel will be required. No space travel is required at this time.

Export Control Requirement

This position requires that the candidate selected be a U.S. Citizen in order to comply with U.S. government‑imposed requirements related to the nature of the work and/or where it will be performed.

Basic Qualifications

  • 10+ years of legal experience
  • Juris Doctor and membership in one state bar or equivalent
  • Experience in technology and commercial transactions or businesses

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working closely with and advising senior executives of an organization or equivalent
  • Experience working independently and directly with all levels of legal and business partners or equivalent

Benefits and Compensation

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several U.S. geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $164,800/year in our lowest geographic market up to $272,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign‑on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits.
