What will you be doing?
This is a unique position for a talented, versatile, and pragmatic commercial generalist with good organizational ability, keen negotiating skills, and strong business and financial acumen to support Circana’s commercial organization, as well as handle various other commercial matters arising from our operations. As a member of Circana’s legal team, you will primarily support Circana's commercial activities in EMEA. Currently, the legal team is working remotely with occasional in-office meetings.
Job Responsibilities
- Review, draft, negotiate, and interpret a variety of agreements, including software, technology, and data licensing agreements, as well as other complex agreements arising from Circana’s domestic and international operations.
- Provide ongoing strategic advice regarding operational and financial business risks and counsel on contract interpretation and potential dispute issues.
- Offer practical guidance to ensure alignment with company policies and industry standards.
- Advise on legal and regulatory matters in EMEA, providing direction to the commercial teams and contributing to cross-functional projects.
- Collaborate with management and legal teams in other regions on strategic initiatives affecting contracts and commercial issues to ensure consistent legal risk management.
- Contribute to the development and improvement of company policies and best practices.
- Support the ongoing enhancement of contract templates in line with emerging laws and regulations across EMEA.
Requirements
- Fully qualified lawyer, postgraduate from an accredited law school with proven academic success.
- Experience in a global business or commercial environment, including hands-on review, drafting, negotiation, and interpretation of sophisticated agreements.
- Preference for experience in software, technology (including AI), and data licensing agreements.
- Strong business and financial acumen with proactive understanding of our business, clients, and partners’ businesses.
- Ability to identify critical aspects of agreements or transactions and address potential issues proactively.
- Proven ability to partner effectively across functions, inspire confidence, and build trust with senior management and others at all levels.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with proficiency in English.
- Self-starter capable of managing multiple workstreams independently and participating in team projects.
- Interest in international business, open-mindedness, and eagerness to work in a multicultural environment.
- Solid knowledge of MS Office Suite, including Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint. Experience with contract/matter management tools is preferred.
