Position Overview

We have an immediate need for a Senior Buyer who will support the purchasing initiatives within our Supply Chain team and ensure that the required focus is placed on the supply risks. The successful candidate will interface with operations, engineering and product development groups to provide purchasing expertise and support best practices. This is a permanent position based in our Gothenburg Office.

Job Requirements

  • Ensures that purchasing policies are followed and maintain all purchasing documentation
  • Arranges Supplier Meetings and follow up on actions and report preparation
  • Ensures that Purchase Orders (POs) are created on time while proactively identifying risks and providing mitigation plans
  • Negotiate contracts ensuring the most beneficial commercial agreements with suppliers in line with the strategy
  • Monitors and upgrades supplier performance against contractual standards whilst maintaining good supplier relationships
  • Responsible for maintaining integrity of procurement system and has working knowledge of Material Requirements Planning (MRP)
  • Creates and maintains bill of material and parts/commodities numbers in supply chain management or other enterprise wide systems
  • Participates in maximizing the procurement teams’ changes, part parameters; quote table maintenance, supplier database information, error report analysis, and part number/supplier code information
  • Performs cost analysis and volume planning for major commodities (e.g. materials, components, equipment and services) and develop Total Cost Ownership (TCO) models to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Monitors the cost, schedule and scope of assigned subcontracts to negotiate highest quality at best value.
  • Develops new supply sources where vendors and suppliers are no longer competitive. May recommend cost saving proposals including make‑versus‑buy analysis or alternative sourcing
  • Interacts closely with suppliers and QA to resolve quality issues
  • Good knowledge of Quality Control and Problem Solving techniques (Process FMEA / Control Plans / 8D problem solving / 5 Why)
  • Works with management to address all aspects of commodity management, including procurement support, commodity business plans, market trends assessment, pricing, and product availability

Job Responsibilities

  • 5+ years of experience as a Sourcing/ Technical Buyer in Automotive or Industrial Environment
  • Target oriented team player with strong communication and collaborative skills
  • Must be able to work independently and demonstrates strong personal initiative
  • Procurement acumen with experience and previous exposure to client facing engagements
  • Experience in Supplier Relationships, working with multiple suppliers in development of sourcing strategies
  • Experience in Project and Risk Management; demonstrated experience in developing concurrent detailed project plans and execute against these plans
  • Domestic and global expertise of assigned commodities
  • Certification from ISM or SCMA, PMP are highly desirable
  • Ability to travel globally
