Applications Engineer – Construction Machinery Performance & Development
Salary: Up to €90,000 + benefits Location: Bologna, Italy Role is based on site in Bologna and requires travel to customer sites and R&D centres. Language: The primary language in the workplace is English. This role is suitable for an engineer with solid understanding of excavator or wheeled loader performance. It involves assessing how different attachments affect machine performance, providing input to design for optimization, and ensuring machines meet customer requirements and specifications. Responsibilities
Work with test and validation (T&V) teams to understand performance of excavators or wheeled loaders with various attachments. Capture, analyze, and compare performance test results to customer specifications and product requirements. Collaborate with design and development teams to enhance and optimize machine designs for improved versatility and compliance. Review new machine attachment inquiries, identify key technical criteria, and develop optimized product solutions using design, test, and performance teams. Work with clients and engineering teams to develop product solutions including hydraulic interfaces, mounting brackets, controls, and installation guides. Visit customers to survey product application performance and identify new opportunities. Provide technical support for bids, understand emerging technologies, and benchmark competitors. Qualifications
A degree or higher in mechanical engineering, mechatronics, or a related field. Excellent technical understanding and experience within construction machinery design, development, validation, or performance (excavator or wheeled loader platforms). Experience in construction machinery test, validation, and performance. Ability to work effectively with customers, internal sales, design, development, and validation teams. High proficiency in English; other language skills are useful. Ability to analyze and interpret customer requirements and performance data. Beneficial Skills
Hands‑on background in construction machinery performance, test, validation, or optimization. High level understanding of hydraulic systems and controls for excavators, wheel loaders, or similar heavy machines.
