scientific officer - food ingredients & packaging unit

We are looking for a Scientific Officer to work in the FIP Unit.

The interim will:

• Prepare scientific outputs and technical reports concerning the safety evaluation of food additives;
• Conduct comprehensive data collection, appraisal, and evidence synthesis from toxicological studies;
• Draft scientific opinions and summaries, ensuring high-quality scientific writing and technical accuracy;
• Coordinate and facilitate groups of external experts and working meetings;
• Perform editorial reviews of scientific deliverables to ensure consistency and compliance with regulatory standards;
• Provide expert support in processing outcomes from project-specific mandates or calls-for-data.

Requirements:

• Excellent knowledge of English (at least C1 level);
• Previous experience in toxicology, genotoxicity, regulatory toxicology and/or pharmacology;
• Degree in toxicology, genotoxicity, regulatory toxicology pharmacology and/or related areas;
• Behavioural competencies: working with others, analysis and problem solving, drive for results, good level of autonomy.

Assignment: initial contract of 3/4 months, with possibility of extension. Expected duration of assignment 12 months.

Salary: approx. €3813 per month before taxes.

Work modalities: office work is required on at least 2 days per week. Remote work is possiblewithin 2 hours from EFSA's premises in Parma, Italy, for the remaining days.
