We are looking for a Scientific Assistant to work in the Feed & Contaminants Unit.

The selected person will support the FEEDCO - Team CONTAMINANTS in its activities, by contributing to the following tasks:

  • Prepare summaries and formulate key findings (preliminary conclusions, uncertainties, gaps…) of submitted data/information;
  • Provide support in reviewing deliverables (intermediate/final), contributing to the preparation of presentations for internal and external purposes;
  • Advice EFSA staff in processing and utilizing the outcomes of project/WG meetings;
  • Provide ad-hoc support in specific cases (e.g. in relation to specific calls-for-data, meetings and/or events);
  • Provide support during the reporting phase, contributing to the preparation of presentations for internal and external purposes;
  • Provide support in relation to risk assessment (e.g., literature analysis, systematic review, data validation, data extraction, data appraisal, collation and processing, summarising and analysis);
  • Support the preparation of public and/or targeted consultations and the preparation of related outcomes;
  • Provide support during the communication phase of the call/ mandate, e.g. contribution at explanatory webinars, expert contribution to Q/As; prepare presentations and FAQ documents.


Requirements:

  • Excellent knowledge of English (at least C1 level);
  • Previous experience in food sciences & engineering and/or micro- and nanoplastics;
  • Degree in Food Sciences & enginnering and/or related areas;
  • Behavioural competencies: working with others, analysis and problem solving, drive for results, good level of autonomy.

Assignment: initial contract of 3 months, with possibility of extension. Expected duration of assignment 12 months.

Salary: approx. €2259 month before taxes.

Work modalities: office work is required on at least 2 days per week. Remote work is possible within 2 hours from EFSA's premises in Parma, Italy, for the remaining days.
