We are looking for a PDGS System Engineer to work at SITAEL’s premises in Roma, Italy.

About the client and location
SITAEL is a private, Italian-based space company that provides specialised, world-leading services for the development of Small Satellites. From initial designs to final production SITAEL is involved throughout the development of their products, with additional experience in various technological industries including avionics and railway-based electronics.
This position is open to protected categories under Italian Law 68/99 (“Rules for the right to work of disabled people”).

Tasks and activities
The scope of work will include:
- Supporting the preparation and validation of Ground Operations Procedures related to the Ground Segment sub-systems of Payload Data Management.
- Analysing the PDGS infrastructure budget in terms of storage, network and processing performances.
- Handling and managing Ground Operations Procedures during operations execution.
- Monitoring the acquisition requests and production orders for products generation based on User queries.
- Controlling and handling the X-band and S-band data.
- Managing the data during the reception, archive and distribution phases.
- Monitoring and keeping record of incidents, ensuring adequate anomaly root cause analysis and problem resolution in support to the on-site operations team.
- Taking part in the contribution/preparation of Ground Segment AIV and System Operational Validation.
- Analysis of the PDGS Integration and Validation test results and generation of test reports.
- Support to problems investigation.
- Preparation of Tests Procedures, Test Scripts, and Operational/Training documentation.
Skills and experience
The following skills and experience are mandatory:
- University Degree or equivalent in Aerospace Engineering, Remote Sensing or any relevant field.
- Proven experience on ground segment implementation.
- Experience in Mission Operations System specifications/development and/or procurement within a space system.
- Experience in Software development in JAVA, GIT and SVN Version Control software.
- Experience in AIV related activities (test procedure generation, requirements verification and validation, test report generation).
- Experience in anomaly reports (ARs)/non-conformance reports (NCRs) handling, investigation and discussion with clients as well as the supplier.
- Knowledge of SAR, Optical and Hyperspectral payloads.
- Knowledge in Spacecraft simulator development, installation, testing and hands-on operation.
- Desire to work both autonomously and as part of a team, in an international multicultural environment.
- Solution oriented mindset, with a customer focused communication skill.
- Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
The following skills and experience would be highly desirable:
- Experience in Eclipse RCP/RAP and IBM DOORS.
- Fluent in Italian, both written and spoken.
