SAP Project Manager – Manufacturing Materials (Governance Role) | Italy
North Point Technology is supporting a global automotive manufacturer through a multi-year SAP transformation program across Italy. This role is for an experienced SAP Project Manager to provide independent governance oversight for a high-visibility SAP material systems conversion at an Italian manufacturing plant.
This is not a hands-on configuration role. The Project Manager will be embedded with the business and responsible for delivery oversight, vendor accountability, and executive-level reporting while execution is performed by a global systems integrator.
Key Responsibilities
• Serve as the governance Project Manager for an SAP material systems conversion at an Italian manufacturing plant
• Oversee systems integrator execution while maintaining zero configuration or delivery ownership
• Provide accurate, unbiased status reporting to business and IT leadership
• Manage schedule, scope, risks, dependencies, and escalation paths across plant and technical center workstreams
• Actively challenge vendors when delivery risk or misalignment is identified
• Ensure production continuity in a low-tolerance manufacturing environment
• Coordinate with global IT, enterprise architecture, and plant leadership teams
Required Experience
• 15+ years of SAP project or program management experience
• Proven legacy SAP to S/4HANA or major material systems conversion experience
• Strong background in manufacturing and materials management environments
• Demonstrated experience managing Accenture or other large global systems integrators
• Experience operating in governance-only roles without configuration responsibility
• Ability to deliver difficult messages clearly and confidently to senior leadership
• Fluent in English; Italian proficiency strongly preferred
• Based in Italy with ability to work on-site
Engagement Details
• Initial engagement expected to run 12+ months
• High likelihood of follow-on SAP projects across additional Italian plants
• Opportunity to expand into regional ownership depending on performance
