About the role
We are currently seeking a Sample Supervisor to join our team on a 3‑month fixed term contract, supporting our Commercial and RD&A teams through the preparation, coordination, and dispatch of product and raw material samples. This is an internal-facing role with responsibility for supervising technicians, prioritising sample requests, and ensuring service levels and quality standards are consistently met.
This role requires a high level of independent working with responsibility for day-to-day decision-making within the samples function.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare, blend, pack, and dispatch samples of finished products and raw materials in line with agreed WOWs, procedures, and SLAs.
- Source materials internally, coordinate blends, and generate all required documentation to enable timely sample dispatch.
- Supervise and manage the daily workload of Sample Technicians, ensuring resources are allocated effectively to meet priorities and deadlines.
- Manage the sample queue and customer expectations, coordinating and communicating with internal requesters as required.
- Maintain accurate and timely updates in relevant systems (including SFDC), such as dispatch status, shortages, or delays.
- Maintain and replenish raw material stocks as required.
- Ensure all hygiene, housekeeping, food safety, and company standards are upheld at all times.
- Support the onboarding and training of new team members and assist with ongoing skills development across the team.
- Escalate challenges, risks, or performance issues to the Samples Manager to support continuous team performance.
- Promote and maintain a safe, inclusive, and collaborative working environment.
Qualifications and skills
- A science-based qualification is desirable but not essential.
- Ability to work independently while also leading and coordinating the workload of others.
- Strong organisational and prioritisation skills, with the ability to manage multiple requests in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated leadership capability, with a willingness to train, develop, and support team members.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage competing priorities effectively.
- Knowledge or experience of product sample preparation and internal material sourcing is desirable.
- IATA certification for shipping dangerous goods may be required; training will be provided if necessary.
