SUMMARY:
Under general direction, this role supports the appropriate application of Teleflex Medical Products in the markets that we serve; identifies products/product attributes necessary to expand into new markets or capitalize on new sales opportunities in existing markets; provides technical information and input on Teleflex Medical products to internal customers in support of R&D efforts, marketing programs, sales promotions and other product/sales focused initiatives; and establishes strong relationships with the end-users of our products via consultation, and service. Manages working relationships with the sales force, Marketing, R&D, Corporate Training, Customer Service, QA, RA and other internal departments in support of assigned products.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Identify and support field sales efforts through customer needs assessment, product training, in servicing, and required customer follow up (i.e., letters, approved product information, samples).
2. Maintain and develop expertise on assigned Teleflex Medical Products and cross-train as required to enhance product knowledge and expand the support capabilities of the Clinical Support Department.
3. Expand the Teleflex Medical customer base and strengthen customer relationships through consultation, networking, and communication.
4. Work in conjunction with sales representatives and sales management to properly identify and prioritize customer opportunities and provide support to the sales force to help achieve corporate, regional, and territory sales goals and objectives.
5. Manage all associated administrative tasks and responsibilities (i.e. submitting expense reports, monthly reports, communication with internal and external customers) in a timely and professional manner and in keeping with company policies, procedures and guidelines.
6. Keep current with new technologies, procedures, published literature, clinical initiatives/guidelines, competitive landscape, and industry trends related to the Teleflex Medical products within assigned responsibility areas and communicate pertinent information to the appropriate sales and corporate departments.
7. Participate in scientific and promotional activities at all identified local, regional, and exhibitions (this may also include training and presentations).
8. Identify and make recommendations to Corporate Training, Sales Management and Marketing regarding product training needs of the sales organization; assist in determining the most desirable, effective and efficient means to provide necessary training.
9. Contribute to the education of new field personnel and other company personnel by providing training/education on products, end-users, and competitors.
10. Work cooperatively with Corporate Accounts to support corporate customers (GPO’s, IDN’s, government facilities, etc.) with product information, product training, accurate cross-references and other technical information about Teleflex Medical products.
11. Provide input to R&D, Marketing and other departments as requested to support new product development and/or development of new and expanded applications for existing products.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Graduate of an accredited university, college, or community college program in the clinical specialty area or equivalent practical experience in the medical device sales or medical product training.
- Minimum of five years clinical experience in hospital and/or alternate site care setting, or three year experience in medical device training, or equivalent.
SPECIALIZED SKILLS & OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Additional preferred or required qualifications.
- Organizational culture and the impact of culture on interdepartmental relationships and communication.
- Good command of English, both written and spoken
- Professional registration, certification or licensure in the clinical specialty area, if a graduate of an accredited program.
- Computer functions/applications as related to laptop use, diskette generation, and remote access of data; with expertise in utilizing such programs as Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. Desktop publishing experience desirable.
- Basic research methods and elements to include the use of Medical Libraries, other reference sites, and their associated web-based services. Sales force organizational dynamics, sales tools, sales activities and related sales problems associated with the Teleflex Medical sales organization and its product lines.
- Demonstrated high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Excellent oral, written and presentation skills.
- Basic proficiency in Word, Power-Point and Excel.
- Ability to multi-task within job functions and adjust quickly to changing priorities, assignments and challenges.
- Experience with the sales process, pricing strategy, hospital contracting (individual and group purchasing/corporate), preferred.
- Demonstrated aptitude for effective cross-functional collaboration and team-building.
- Knowledge of principals and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups, and the outcome measurement.
- Strong analytical and project management skills
