About the Company
RQT is recruiting on behalf of a well established group within the Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Events industry.
About the Role
This is a senior leadership role and is strictly suited to candidates with substantial and proven experience within the MICE sector, gained either within a reputable agency environment or within a structured hospitality group operating in meetings and events. The successful candidate will report directly to the Managing Director and CEO and will be responsible for driving revenue growth, leading the Italy based team, and ensuring operational excellence in line with Group strategy and financial targets.
Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership and Business Development
- Develop and implement the annual business plan, sales strategy, and budget for the Italy office.
- Drive sustainable revenue growth and profitability in line with Group objectives.
- Identify new market opportunities, client segments, and product development areas.
- Monitor financial performance and implement corrective measures where required.
- Provide structured reporting to Group management on sales, pipeline, and financial performance.
Sales and Client Relationship Management
- Lead the sales function to maximise conversion rates, margins, and long term client value.
- Manage and strengthen relationships with key corporate clients, agencies, and strategic partners.
- Oversee major proposals, tenders, and high value negotiations.
- Represent the company at international trade fairs, sales missions, and client meetings.
- Accompany key clients on inspections, site visits, and familiarisation programmes when required.
Operations and Service Delivery
- Oversee all operational activities to ensure seamless delivery of conferences, incentive groups, and corporate programmes.
- Ensure all events are delivered on time, within budget, and in line with company quality standards.
- Act as senior escalation point for client or operational issues.
- Ensure structured planning, risk management, and contingency processes are in place.
- Negotiate with key suppliers to secure competitive commercial terms.
Team Leadership and Governance
- Lead, motivate, and develop the Italy based team to achieve high performance.
- Set clear objectives and conduct performance reviews.
- Ensure compliance with Group standards, policies, and corporate governance requirements.
- Maintain strong internal collaboration across markets.
Qualifications
This is a senior role and requires significant relevant experience.
Required Skills
- Proven and demonstrable experience within the MICE industry is essential.
- Experience gained within a recognised MICE agency or a hospitality group with a strong meetings and events focus is mandatory.
- Strong track record in managing large scale conferences, incentive programmes, and international corporate events.
- Demonstrated commercial acumen with experience managing budgets, margins, and revenue targets.
- Proven leadership experience in managing and developing teams.
- Strong negotiation, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Willingness to travel and represent the company internationally.
