Our client, in the Petrochem Industry, is seeking a Responsible Care Manager to join their team.
Position Summary
The Responsible Care Manager is accountable for leading the Responsible Care Department, which includes Health, Safety, Security, Environmental, and Quality (HSSEQ) and Process Safety. Responsibilities include developing local Responsible Care strategies, managing resources, and coordinating with other departments and the Global Manufacturing Responsible Care Team (GMRCT).
The manager is an active member of the Plant Management Team (PMT) and Site Management Team (SMT), contributing to site-specific objectives and organizational effectiveness. Success is measured by leadership, employee development, and delivering world-class HSSEQ and Process Safety services aligned with policies and standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead Responsible Care initiatives to meet plant and corporate HSSEQ targets safely and efficiently.
- Develop systems to ensure safe work practices for employees and contractors.
- Monitor and improve work procedures to enhance Responsible Care performance.
- Ensure compliance with HSSEQ regulations and initiate corrective actions.
- Support audits and implement follow-up improvements.
- Generate necessary reports for government agencies.
- Train teams for effective emergency response.
- Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities to reduce risks.
- Represent the company in industry initiatives such as CAER, LCA, GBRIA, OEP, CAP.
- Analyze performance data and execute corrective actions.
- Contribute to capital planning for HSSEQ improvements.
- Manage departmental budgets within approved limits.
- Ensure compliance with policies, standards, and procedures.
- Maintain ACC Responsible Care certification at Geismar.
- Foster a strong Responsible Care culture through leadership.
- Participate actively in Plant and Site Management Teams.
- Handle incidents effectively to minimize harm.
- Collaborate during turnarounds and outages on Responsible Care plans.
- Support global engineering, technology, and project initiatives.
- Assess risks related to manufacturing changes with operational and technical teams.
- Participate in the GMRCT.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Science from an accredited institution.
- At least 10 years of manufacturing plant or EHS experience.
- Preferably 5+ years of management experience in manufacturing or EHS industries.
- Deep knowledge of HSSEQ and PSM standards, policies, and procedures.
- Strong leadership, communication, and motivation skills.
- Excellent planning, organization, and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in common computer applications.
