Role Description

We are seeking a highly motivated Research Scientist to contribute to a cutting-edge R&D program focused on the discovery and in vitro validation of novel nucleic acid–based molecules targeting viral pathogens. The role will be embedded within a collaborative academic–industry environment and will support the experimental development of next-generation antiviral technologies

The Research Scientist will play a key role in establishing and executing cellular infection assays, supporting viral particle production, and performing molecular and biochemical characterization of candidate molecules. The position involves working within a structured research plan under scientific supervision, contributing to experimental design, data generation, and iterative optimization workflows.

This role requires hands-on laboratory expertise in cell biology, molecular biology, and virology, as well as the ability to operate in a dynamic, milestone-driven research setting.

Key Responsibilities

· Support production and characterization of pseudo-virions for in vitro models

· Establish and optimize cell-based infection assays using reporter systems

· Conduct screening experiments

· Perform molecular biology techniques and standard biochemical analyses

· Contribute to interaction studies using quantitative approaches

· Collect, analyse, and document experimental data in accordance with research and safety standards

· Participate in technical reporting and internal project discussions

Required Qualifications

· M.Sc in Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Virology, Biotechnology, or a related discipline.

Candidates with Ph.D and/or industry experience will be strongly preferred

· Strong background in mammalian cell culture and molecular techniques

· Experience with viral assays and reporter systems is highly desirable

· Ability to work independently within a supervised research framework

· Impeccable organizational skills and attention to detail

· Strong written and verbal communication skills in English

Compensation, role classification, and the type of contract (fixed-term or permanent) will be determined based on the candidate’s seniority, prior experience, and the outcome of the interview process with the company. In all cases, the position will include a six-month probation period.

The expected gross annual salary (RAL) range is approximately €28,000 – €34,000, depending on seniority, expertise, and overall profile alignment.
