Artificial Intelligence. Actual Impact.

At Docebo, we’re using AI to change how people learn at work and truly transform training into a superpower that benefits learners and businesses.

The Release Engineer oversees and orchestrates the software release lifecycle across our SaaS platform. The role bridges Product Engineering, Cloud Infrastructure and Cloud Operations, standardises release processes while enabling teams to maintain speed, autonomy, and compliance.

What You’ll Do

  • Governance & Standardisation: Define and maintain "Golden Standards" for the release process across all product teams to ensure consistency.
  • Interdependency Management: Analyse and validate cross‑service dependencies prior to deployment, ensuring changes in "Service A" do not compromise the integrity of "Service B".
  • Risk Mitigation: Assess risks for each release cycle, define clear rollback plans and timely mitigation strategies.
  • Process Automation: Collaborate with DevOps teams to automate release checklists and quality gates.
  • Communication Orchestration: Act as the primary liaison between Engineering, Product, QA and Security stakeholders to align release timelines and expectations.
  • Continuous Improvement: Analyse post‑release metrics to identify bottlenecks and continuously optimise the workflow.
  • Enforce release readiness standards across all teams, with the authority to block releases if unmitigated or unclear risks are identified, in collaboration with Engineering Leadership.
  • Track and communicate delivery blockers, dependencies and risk indicators, escalating issues to the appropriate teams or line managers to ensure timely resolution and maintain a predictable release pace.
  • Guarantee the company is always capable of deploying hotfixes for any service, promoting and validating processes that favour the use of tested release candidates over cherry‑picked changes.

What It Takes To Be Successful

To be successful as a Release Engineer in a modern SaaS environment, you need to move away from being a "gatekeeper" and become an "enabler". The true measure of success is when the release process is so well‑structured that it becomes "boring"—meaning there are no surprises, no midnight emergencies, and no broken dependencies.

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience: 4+ years in Release Management, Release Engineering or DevOps within SaaS/Cloud‑native environments.
  • CI/CD Mastery: Proficiency with tools such as GitHub Actions, GitLab CI and Jenkins.
  • Microservices Architecture: Solid understanding of microservices, API versioning, compatibility testing and contract testing.
  • Deployment Strategies: Hands‑on experience with Canary releases, Blue‑Green deployments and Feature Flag management.
  • Observability: Ability to use monitoring and logging tools (e.g. Datadog) to validate release success in real time.
  • Pragmatism: Ability to balance process rigour with engineering flexibility and velocity.
  • Communication: Excellent ability to translate complex technical risks into actionable insights for non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Resilience: Remains calm and analytical when managing release‑related incidents or high‑pressure deployment windows.

Great work can happen anywhere but coming together helps us go further. The team spends three days a week in the office (Tuesday‑Thursday) for collaboration, problem‑solving and learning. The remaining days offer flexibility to help everyone do their best work and keep growing.
