ING Bank NV – Milan Branch, is searching for a talented Junior VP to work within the Wholesale Banking Financial Institutions Sector Coverage team in Milan.

Financial Institutions Sector Coverage (“FI”) is a global team covering ING’s largest financial institutions by income and exposure.

The Relationship Manager is responsible for the overall business relationship with designated Italian banks and non-banks financial institutions, as well as leading banks in Greece, Malta, and Cyprus.

The Relationship Manager will work in a dynamic client-facing team of highly dedicated professionals, part of a “virtual” platform with teams worldwide, including Amsterdam. The role involves regular contact with clients and cooperation with internal departments such as Financial Markets, Capital Markets and Advisory, FI Lending, Risk Management, Compliance, etc.

Key responsibilities :

The primary responsibility is to manage relationships with designated Financial Institutions, coordinating across products and geographies to explore and maximize cross-buy opportunities. This involves leading relationship dialogues and regular coordination with teams across the ING network.

Main tasks include :

  • Identify clients’ critical business issues and opportunities based on a comprehensive understanding of the client, their business, sector, and ING products.
  • Define the FI strategy in close coordination with the Head of FI, business partners, and aligned with the Bank’s overall strategy.
  • Draft internal committee forms for commercial approval of limits.
  • Draft Relationship Manager’s advice, including client relationship history, revenue streams, and business objectives.
  • Assist the Head of FI in the KYC process (Customer Due Diligence, FATCA, CRS, etc.).
  • Collaborate with stakeholders on KYC tasks to ensure full compliance, monitor expiration dates, and off-board clients no longer aligned with strategy.
  • Ensure data quality within IT systems (limits, exposures, legal structure in Vantage).
  • Assist in drafting presentations for Senior Management and clients.
  • Prepare lending term sheets and lead initial negotiations in collaboration with Legal and FI Lending departments.
  • Originate product-integrated solutions pitches to clients with product specialists.
  • Respond promptly to client requests and direct them appropriately.

  • Proactivity, energy, enthusiasm, and ability to drive results.
  • Fluency in Italian and English, both spoken and written.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in a similar role within banking focused on Financial Institutions or related products.
