Job summary

The transition to a net-zero emissions economy requires private companies to set ambitious climate targets and take bold actions. This leadership role aims to create environmental impact and drive South Pole’s business in Southern Europe, one of the fastest-growing markets in our Climate Solutions business line. You will oversee regional business activities, focusing on business development and key account management.

You will establish the regional go-to-market strategy, define the annual budget, and be accountable for the region's business performance. Collaboration with regional and global marketing and implementation teams will be essential to develop solutions and seize new opportunities.

You will lead, develop, and inspire our passionate regional teams to deliver value to clients and advance the climate agenda with impact and pride in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Main tasks & responsibilities

  1. Strategy: Lead and drive South Pole’s business development in Southern Europe by defining and implementing the regional go-to-market strategy, ensuring resources and capabilities to deliver environmental impact and commercial results.
  2. Team development: Lead, develop, and inspire the regional team of business development and key account managers, providing guidance on recruitment, target setting, and performance evaluations. Support regional marketing and implementation teams with business insights.
  3. Business Development: Expand South Pole’s market presence in Southern Europe by identifying and creating new opportunities, negotiating deals, and coordinating with implementation teams.
  4. Client experience: Ensure a smooth and inspiring client journey from initial contact to delivery, collaborating closely with marketing, implementation, and post-sales teams.
  5. Solutions Development: Contribute to the development of solutions by translating client and market feedback to marketing and implementation teams.
  6. Budget Responsibility: Establish and manage the annual regional budget for Climate Solutions, ensuring financial performance.
  7. Commercial Accountability: Take responsibility for business agreements with clients and partners in the region.
  8. Leadership & Inspiration: Represent South Pole at events, conferences, and meetings, inspiring clients, partners, and employees to accelerate climate action.

Requirements

Essential

  • A strong drive to help solve climate change through scientifically robust and commercially viable solutions.
  • University degree in Environmental Sciences, Business, or a related field.
  • 5-10 years of senior experience in commercial or business development roles, including people management.
  • Experience or strong understanding of sustainability drivers in corporate climate action.
  • Knowledge in at least one of the following: carbon markets, renewable energy, corporate responsibility, sustainable development, or climate change.
  • Strong business acumen with proven skills in relationship building and negotiation.
