R&D Intumescent & Process Specialist – Promat Italy – Filago Plant (BG)
What you'll do
- Lead research and development initiatives to design new products and systems, and improve existing technologies within the intumescent portfolio.
- Take full ownership of a product portfolio focused on intumescent lamination, extrusion, and injection molding.
- Act as a key technical reference, providing expert support to internal stakeholders (Quality Control, production sites in Italy and Europe, other business units) and external customers.
- Product Development & Innovation: conduct patent and literature reviews, develop project plans, test formulations on a lab scale, extrapolate to production processes, design and analyze fire test programs, source new raw materials to improve performance, reduce costs and CO2 footprint, collaborate with internal experts, universities, suppliers, external partners, train stakeholders, and support grant and patent applications.
- Project & Portfolio Management: define scope with sponsors, conduct risk analyses, prepare decision meetings, manage project databases and development plans, coordinate and delegate tasks, report progress and mitigation plans, and oversee laboratory management.
- Technical Assistance & Support: clarify technical requests, oversee material technology and performance, define, perform or commission analyses and tests, evaluate results and deliver technical reports to Quality Control, production sites, and business units.
- Safety & Environmental Compliance: report hazardous situations, accidents or safety system failures, use laboratory materials and safety equipment properly, contribute to prevention and environmental policies, and maintain compliance with corporate standards.
What you'll bring
- Master of Science in materials engineering, civil engineering, mechanical engineering, or related field.
- 3–5 years in a similar role.
- English language proficiency at B2 level (required) and confident communication in an international environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Ability to use ERP systems (experience with SAP is a plus).
- Very good knowledge of modelling related to building materials & systems and validation with test data.
- Very good knowledge of Artificial Intelligence.
- Good knowledge of behaviour of building materials and building performances.
- Excellent organizational skills – task prioritization, independence, and sense of responsibility.
- Very good communication and interpersonal skills – ease of building good relationships, politeness, professional conduct.
- Ability and willingness to work with people – teamwork within an international and cross‑functional environment.
- Flexibility and adaptability to changing conditions.
