You shall be working in the research and development department, which is responsible for the control and automation logics relevant to Energy Storage, Photovoltaics, Hybrid solutions and Automation systems within the Grid Automation Business Unit – Power Conversion Systems team.
The proposed role is available in the Hitachi Energy Grid Automation offices in Genova Italy, and in Seville.
Being part of a global team, you shall interact with the different stakeholders of the organization and Operational units worldwide.
Your focus shall be on the verification & validation (V&V) of Hitachi Energy PCS product portfolio (PCS and Automation), with focus on the system's features for several applications, PV, BESS, Hybrid systems, grid connected and islanded power systems, etc..
How you'll make an impact
You shall leverage your extensive knowledge for modelling: Power Electronics converters, digital controllers, renewable and thermal generation assets, loads in Hardware in the Loop to perform System Integrations simulations when the different assets are grid connected or in island operation.
You will be responsible for the system HiLV&V processes for PCS product portfolio integrated with specific customer additional assets and functional requirements.
Working with the R&D senior management you shall participate in the definition and implementation of the system V&V plan, being supporting the different applications delivery and rollout to execution projects.
As part of the R&D team you will have the opportunity to interact with Product Management, external consultants, and internal customers globally located.
Responsible for documentation generation, version tracking and quality checks.
Provide training and support of PCS colleagues, customers, and consultants.
Your background
Masters degree, preferably in Power Electronics topologies and Control, with a focus on power electronics current and voltage control loops and modulation techniques. A PhD in the area is preferred.
Minimum 5 years of experience in control techniques applied to Power Conversion Systems, preferably applied to 3 Phase DC/AC 2 and 3 level topologies and DC/DC converters.
Proficient with automatic control theory and techniques applied to power electronics.
Proficient in PCS topologies operation, modelling and simulation including modulation techniques (scalar and vectorial).
Proficient with Power Electronics and Control System modelling tools (Typhoon, MatlabSimulink, PLECS).
Knowledge of Python, PyTest and simulation automation techniques is a plus.
Solid presentation skills and fluency in English, both written and spoken.
High awareness for quality, process and tool in related area.
