Project Manager - Development (PV/BESS/Wind) - Milan

We are seeking a Senior Project Manager to lead the delivery of renewable energy initiatives in the Italian market. This role offers the opportunity to be the primary point of contact for assigned development projects within a fast-growing, entrepreneurial environment backed by an international group.

Based in Milan and reporting to the Country Manager, the Senior Project Manager will focus on the development of projects across technologies, including PV, wind, BESS, hydrogen and P2X.

Key responsibilities:

• Identify, assess and advance new project development opportunities for wind, solar, BESS and P2X
• Perform feasibility studies and risk assessments for potential projects
• Manage project delivery from concept through permitting to ready-to-build (RTB) and handover to construction, taking full ownership of land, grid and permit pillars while controlling scope, budget and schedule
• Oversee budgets and resource allocation for assigned projects, proactively managing schedule and risk
• Coordinate external developers, consultants and service providers, ensuring compliance with contracts and deliverables
• Source and propose project acquisition opportunities, including participation in M&A evaluations
• Facilitate handover to the Construction team and provide support during the construction phase
• Support development and optimisation of the existing project portfolio
• Coach and develop colleagues, with particular emphasis on permitting and regulatory processes
• Promote profitable, sustainable growth for the organisation in the Italian market
• Perform other duties as required in support of project development

Required profile:

• Minimum eight years’ experience in renewable energy project development, primarily wind and/or solar
• Fluent in Italian and English, with strong written and verbal communication skills in both languages
• Proven experience in greenfield project development in Italy, from land scouting to RTB, including familiarity with national, regional and local regulations, grid connection procedures and land contract negotiation/management
• Excellent project management skills and a track record of delivering complex projects
• Strong analytical, interpersonal and organisational abilities
• Ability to manage multiple projects across different regions simultaneously
• Willingness to travel frequently within Italy

Desirable experience:

• Experience managing construction of utility-scale wind or PV plants through commissioning
• Knowledge of battery storage, hydrogen and/or P2X project development
• Additional language skills
