Program Manager – Large Power Converters
Location: Castel Guelfo (BO), Italy.
The Program Manager will manage the development and execution of new products within the Large Power Converters Product Line, part of the Power Management Business Unit. This role will focus on New Product Development / New Product Introduction programs through the Vertiv NPDI process, while also supporting initiatives related to existing products such as sustaining, regionalization, cost‑out, compliance, lifecycle management, and engineering change projects.
The successful candidate will independently manage high‑complexity programs with limited supervision, leading cross‑functional teams through influence, structure, accountability, and strong execution control. The role reports to the Product Line PMO Lead.
What kind of work will you be doing?
- Lead and manage multiple cross‑functional projects and programs within the Large Power Converters Product Line.
- Own project execution from initiation to launch, ensuring clear planning, disciplined execution, and alignment with the Vertiv NPDI process.
- Drive project scope, schedule, cost, quality, resources, risks, dependencies, and deliverables to ensure successful achievement of business and technical objectives.
- Prepare and support NPDI gate reviews, milestone reviews, governance meetings, and launch readiness assessments.
- Maintain strong execution control through project dashboards, integrated schedules, risk registers, issue logs, action trackers, decision logs, and executive status reporting.
- Lead cross‑functional teams without direct authority, driving accountability across Engineering, Product Management, Operations, Supply Chain, Service, Quality, Finance, Sales, Compliance/Certification, and regional teams.
- Ensure stakeholder alignment on priorities, risks, trade‑offs, decisions, escalations, and recovery plans.
- Identify, track, and manage risks, issues, dependencies, and changes, ensuring timely escalation and resolution.
- Support financial tracking against approved project budgets, business cases, and cost targets.
- Ensure project documentation is complete, accurate, traceable, and aligned with NPDI governance requirements.
- Support regionalization, sustaining, cost‑out, compliance/certification, platform development, lifecycle, and engineering change initiatives as required.
- Communicate project status clearly and concisely to leadership and stakeholders, including key achievements, risks, decisions required, and corrective actions.
- Promote a culture of ownership, execution discipline, accountability, and continuous improvement within the project teams.
Required Qualifications
- More than 6 years of strong project or program management experience, preferably in complex industrial, manufacturing, engineering, or technology environments.
- Proven ability to independently manage high‑complexity, cross‑functional programs with limited supervision.
- Demonstrated experience managing scope, schedule, cost, quality, resources, risks, issues, dependencies, and stakeholder alignment.
- Strong experience with structured project governance, project reporting, milestone tracking, action management, and executive communication.
- Proven ability to lead cross‑functional teams without direct authority and drive accountability across functions.
- Strong communication, problem‑solving, decision‑making, conflict management, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a global, matrixed organization across regions and functions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Engineering degree or equivalent technical education.
- Project management certification such as PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent.
- Experience with new product introduction, new product development, stage‑gate processes, or NPDI governance.
- Experience with power electronics, UPS systems, power converters, industrial products, electrical engineering, embedded controls, or mechanical/electrical integration.
