Production Manager (Manufacturing Plant)
– based in
Rivalta Scrivia (Alessandria, Italy)
for a
permanent
contract. The
Production Manager
is responsible for the overall management of manufacturing operations within the plant, ensuring full alignment with safety, quality, efficiency, cost, and customer service targets. The role oversees production teams, optimizes processes, and collaborates closely with the Maintenance department to supervise preventive and corrective maintenance activities essential for ensuring plant uptime and operational continuity.
Responsibilities
Ensure compliance with HSE (Health, Safety & Environment) standards and foster a strong safety culture across the production area.
Manage and coordinate production departments, ensuring adherence to production plans and quality standards.
Optimize manufacturing processes through Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, and performance analysis methodologies.
Monitor key operational KPIs (OEE, productivity, scrap, line efficiency, downtime) and implement corrective action plans.
Collaborate with the Maintenance department to:
define intervention priorities,
support the planning of preventive maintenance,
ensure equipment availability and minimize unplanned downtime,
assess the effectiveness of maintenance activities.
Ensure proper technical and managerial training of production personnel.
Manage the production budget and contribute to the capital expenditure (capex) plan for plant and layout improvements.
Interface with Quality, Engineering, Supply Chain, and HR to ensure smooth cross‑functional alignment.
Lead digitalization and automation initiatives within the production area (Industry 4.0 projects).
Daily supervision of production areas: workforce allocation, shift management, task prioritization.
Participation in daily/weekly performance meetings and reporting on KPIs.
Analysis of downtime, failures, and root causes (RCA), with implementation of improvement actions.
Support in drafting and enforcing SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures).
Follow‑up on maintenance activities in collaboration with the Maintenance Manager.
Conduct periodic audits on safety, quality, and production processes.
Support equipment validation and commissioning of new machines or lines.
Coordinate continuous improvement initiatives (Kaizen, 5S, SMED, Value Stream Mapping).
Qualifications
In-depth knowledge of industrial manufacturing processes (chemical, pharmaceutical, mechanical, food, etc., depending on plant context).
Strong understanding of key production KPIs and efficiency improvement techniques.
Expertise in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, TPM, and problem‑solving methodologies.
Understanding of equipment operation principles and basic maintenance concepts (preventive, predictive, corrective).
Familiarity with MES, ERP systems, data analytics tools, and digital manufacturing technologies.
Ability to interpret technical plant diagrams (preferred).
Knowledge of safety standards and applicable regulations for manufacturing plants.
Strong leadership and ability to manage operational teams.
Analytical mindset and effective problem‑solving skills.
Ability to work under pressure and make timely decisions.
Clear communication across operational, technical, and management levels.
Strong result orientation and continuous improvement mindset.
Effective planning and prioritization skills.
Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate should be available to work mainly in Rivalta Scrivia but must also be willing to transfer or travel to other plants in the North of Italy as required.
