Brief description of the role:
The Product Engineer at Atlante is responsible for technology scouting , technical due diligence of suppliers , and managing the product portfolio for charging solutions and energy storage systems for eMobility. The role involves close collaboration with national and international teams to ensure the adoption of innovative and standardized solutions.

By identifying, qualifying and integrating state-of-the-art charging and storage technologies, this role directly contributes to Atlante’s technological excellence, network reliability and operational efficiency .
The Product Engineer ensures that hardware and firmware choices are future-proof, interoperable and aligned with business needs, enabling Atlante to:
- Maintain a competitive and differentiated network of fast and ultra-fast chargers
- Optimise station performance, uptime and safety
- Scale quickly and consistently across European markets
- Reduce total cost of ownership through robust product lifecycle management
Core Responsibilities:
- Manage the product portfolio of EV chargers and BESS used in Atlante stations, ensuring solutions are reliable, scalable and cost-effective.
- Scout and evaluate new technologies and suppliers (chargers and BESS), performing technical due diligence on performance, certifications, safety, roadmap and TCO.
- Define technical requirements and product specifications for RFQs/RFPs in collaboration with Procurement and internal stakeholders.
- Manage OCPP integration and interoperability between chargers and Atlante’s backend platform, coordinating lab tests, field pilots and regression testing for new models and firmware releases.
- Coordinate product testing and commissioning by defining FAT, SAT and commissioning procedures, and supporting on-site/remote activities when needed.
- Maintain clear and structured technical documentation (datasheets, manuals, configuration guides, troubleshooting) and ensure its availability to all relevant teams (Operations, Growth & Infra, Customer Care, etc.).
- Act as internal technical reference (L2/L3) for issues related to chargers and BESS behaviour, configuration and integration, supporting colleagues and managing technical escalations with suppliers.
- Oversee lifecycle and change management (new releases, feature updates, bug fixes, end-of-life) ensuring impacts are assessed and communicated across the organisation.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Engineering, HSE and permitting teams to ensure charger and BESS solutions comply with applicable standards, grid codes and local regulations.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Electrical, Energy, or E-Mobility Engineering, complemented by relevant practical experience.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in technical roles such as Product Engineer, Application Engineer, Technical Project Engineer, Systems Engineer or similar; prior experience in e-mobility or EV charging stations is highly valued.
- Experience with EV supply equipment, power electronics, energy storage, or electrical equipment.
- Solid understanding of basic power systems and electrical principles (LV systems, protection, cabling, single-line diagrams).
- Ability to read and interpret technical documentation, electrical schematics and product datasheets.
- Familiarity with communication protocols and system integration concepts; experience with OCPP or similar protocols is a plus.
- Comfortable using common productivity tools (Excel/Sheets, PowerPoint/Slides, ticketing or issue-tracking systems)
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; fluency in French and English (spoken and written).
- Availability for international travel, including visits to Milan HQ.
