This Opportunity: This role is responsible for the development of new global product platforms for the Kitchenware and Industrial Bakeware industry. This includes formula design, preparation and application of coatings, and testing these coatings against a wide range of regional/global specifications and customer requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and conduct experimental work such as formulation, application and testing of coatings.
- Analyze and interpret experimental results effectively to contribute to the development of new and improved product platforms.
- Work in conjunction with R&D and regional labs on the development of new product platforms.
- Work closely with customers and the regions to understand their needs and how to incorporate these needs into new product platforms.
- Work toward technical milestones and deliver results against aggressive timelines. Coordinate related activities including synthesis, regulatory evaluation and application.
- Maintain and grow an understanding of general industry coating processes, including details of key customer lines and use this information to inform the research and development of robust coating platforms.
- Develop new test methods that will help to accelerate the assessment of new coatings and simulate customer line conditions to increase the speed and success rate of product launches.
- Build and maintain a network with commercial and technical teams in all regions to communicate progress on projects and understand future needs.
- Maintain and communicate results through written and verbal summaries, coatings reports and gate review updates.
- Work safely, following all lab procedures and contribute to the maintenance of high safety standards.
Qualifications
- Requires a degree in Chemistry, Polymer Science, Material Science or Chemical Engineering.
- Requires a Ph. D. Degree with 1+ years of relevant formulation development experience or an M.S. Degree with 4+ years of relevant formulation development experience.
- Relevant experience with experimental design (DOE) is desired.
- Ability to work independently and as a part of a team. Collaboration skills are required and a strong desire to work in a team oriented, dynamic global environment.
- Ability to manage complex technical projects with multiple stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to influence and motivate other associates.
- Effective written and oral communication.
- English: Full professional proficiency.
- Self-starter, independent, achiever and highly motivated.
- Ability to travel up to 10%.
