Procurement Lead (NPDI)

Overview

Procurement Lead (NPDI) role at Vertiv. Vertiv is hiring a Procurement Lead to support New Product Development. As a member of the Americas Procurement Team, the person will lead the sourcing activities for an assigned Line of Business and be the designated point of contact managing all sourcing activities related to new product introduction, product cost reductions, production transfers, supply chain design, and time to market. Working closely with the Engineering and Commodity teams to monitor critical prototype parts, determine e-Auctions opportunities, perform risk & resiliency assessment, and report status to agreed KPIs.

Responsibilities

• Manage all Procurement deliverables as new products transition from ideation to pilot phase and into mass production with speed, quality, and performance to exceed customer expectations.
• Be an integral part of each Engineering project team to ensure parts are sourced from preferred suppliers, have BOM and Cap Ex cost that meet business needs, deliver a supply chain that meets market demands, maximize dual sourcing, ensure material and supplier readiness for key development milestones, and eliminate supply chain issues before product release to mass production.
• Help develop the prototype strategy with the engineering team and associated buyer to enable quick turnaround on prototypes; analyze tooling needs and costs for a new product.
• Review supplier proposals and make recommendations; coordinate with Regional and Global procurement teams to mitigate supply risks.
• Own all purchase BOM cost reporting; track purchase cost changes and participate in new component reduction activities to stay below price target.
• Host Sourcing Reviews for business-critical projects with cross-functional teams and follow up to ensure identified actions are addressed in a timely manner.
• Ensure Procurement KPIs are correctly reported and drive improvements when KPIs are not met; complete all Procurement-related Gate deliverables during new product development; provide Procurement vote on relevant Gates.
• Lead/participate in NPD/NPI review meetings as required and coordinate launch plans with EMS suppliers to meet project schedules.

Qualifications

Minimum Education Level
Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical, Electronic), Supply Chain Operations and/or Business.

Minimum Years Of Experience
5-7 years of supply chain, engineering, or related experience.

Skills

• Significant Supply Chain and Engineering background with experience in multiple disciplines (e.g., NPI, Project Management, Industrialization).
• Ability to interpret technical specifications, engineering drawings, and bill of materials.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously; team player within Procurement and cross-functional teams.
• Clear understanding of Supply Chain and Procurement processes and strategy with knowledge of Vertiv’s marketplace and industry operations.
• Ability to build forward-thinking partnerships with suppliers, with leadership skills in complex, international, and cross-functional teams.
• Experience working within large matrixed organizations and willingness to work across time zones.
• Ability to drive and accept change and continuous improvement processes.
• Excellent communication, organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
• Proficient in MS Office, ERP, and PLM tools.
