Overview
Vertiv is hiring a Procurement Lead to support New Product Development. As a member of the Americas Procurement Team, the person will lead the sourcing activities for an assigned Line of Business. This position will be the designated point of contact managing all sourcing activities related to new product introduction, product cost reductions, production transfers, supply chain design, and time to market. Working closely with the Engineering and Commodity teams to monitor critical prototype parts, determine e-Auctions opportunities, perform risk & resiliency assessment, and report status to agreed KPIs.
Responsibilities
- Manage all procurement deliverables as new products transition from ideation to pilot phase and into mass production with speed, quality, and performance to exceed customer expectations.
- Be an integral part of each engineering project team to ensure parts are sourced from preferred suppliers, BOM and capex costs meet business needs, supply chain delivers market-ready parts/products, dual sourcing is maximized, material and supplier readiness aligns with milestones, and supply chain issues are resolved before mass production.
- Help develop prototype strategy with engineering to enable quick prototype turnarounds. Analyze tooling needs and costs for a new product.
- Review supplier proposals and make recommendations. Coordinate with regional and global procurement teams to mitigate supply risks.
- Own all purchase BOM cost reporting. Track cost changes and participate in component reduction activities to stay below price targets.
- Host Sourcing Reviews for business-critical projects with cross-functional teams and ensure identified actions are addressed timely.
- Ensure procurement KPIs are reported and drive improvements when targets are not met. Complete all procurement gate deliverables during new product development and participate in procurement votes at gate reviews.
- Lead or participate in NPD/NPI review meetings and coordinate launch plans with EMS suppliers to meet project schedules.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical, Electronic), Supply Chain Operations and/or Business.
- Minimum Experience: 5-7 years of supply chain, engineering, or related experience.
- Skills: Significant supply chain and engineering background with experience in NPI/PM/industrialization; ability to interpret technical specifications, drawings, and BOMs; ability to manage multiple projects; strong cross-functional collaboration; understanding of Vertiv’s marketplace and industry standards; ability to build supplier partnerships; leadership in complex, international teams; willingness to work across time zones; change management and continuous improvement mindset; excellent communication, organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills; proficiency in MS Office, ERP, and PLM tools.
