PROCESS ENGINEER

The Process Engineer works in Front End Engineering Design (FEED) and Engineering Procurement Construction and Commissioning (EPCC) Projects, mainly in oil & gas, petrochemicals, fertilizer processing industries and powers plants, to prepare process documentation following project schedule, safety and cost-effectiveness criteria, Contract requirements, Company procedures and International Codes and Standards.
The Process Engineer works under supervision of a Senior Process Engineer (if not a Senior Process Engineer) and reports to Project Process Leader and/or Process Manager which lead the Process team on the Project.
Key Activities & Responsibilities :
In relation to the experience and seniority, the Process Engineer prepares the following documentation and execute the following activities:
- general specifications, philosophies and other general documents;
- design basis;
- flow diagrams, DP/DT Diagrams and Process safeguarding diagrams;
- process datasheets and sequence description & effect diagrams;
- loop description;
- summaries for the various operating cases, including start-up/shut-down
- chemicals & piping classes datasheets and summary;
- Distribution Diagrams (UDD) sizing & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID);
- inputs to the Electrical users and tracing lists;
- Line lists and Stream list and Piping Special item list;
- plot plan process validation;
- safety valves calculations and datasheets with calculation report;
- load summary for all the design scenarios including emergency depressurization where required / applicable, flare mitigation study, and reports;
- simulations;
- equipment list;
- work with other Engineering Disciplinesor internal document preparation (Hold-up list, First Filling, etc.) and Vendor follow-up.
He/she wil interact with the other Discipline Engineers in the Project for what concern the matters under Process scope of design.
He/she will provide assistance during construction and commissioning project phases from head office or at site depending by the Project needs.
He/she can be assigned at site with a low responsibility in the Commissioning Organization.
As a member of the department, his/her duties are:
- provide feedback to the Process Head of Department concerning problems arising from application of standard methods and work instruction to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the Department;
- keep himself/herself up-to-date about the technical specific improvement of the discipline.
Personal Attributes:
- Master’s degree in chemical engineering or similar;
- process engineering background with specific application in petrochemical, power, fertilizing and oil & gas industry EPCC and FEED projects;
- fluent in English;
- availability to travel and/or to be deployed to sites on both short and long term on the basis of Company needs;
- 3 ÷ 12 years of experience is a preferred requirement.
