We are looking for a professional with solid knowledge of data protection and banking and financial regulation, who brings sound legal judgment and practical experience in implementing compliance controls.
The role will primarily focus on privacy and data protection matters, while also providing support on broader compliance topics.
We especially value the ability to work cross-functionally with different Group functions, the capacity to interpret complex privacy and financial regulations and an innovative mindset to integrate regulatory requirements into the design of digital products and services.
The selected candidate should demonstrate technical rigor, proactivity, attention to detail and strong teamwork skills within an agile and evolving environment.
Main Responsibilities
The selected candidate will support the continuous enhancement of BBVA’s privacy and compliance framework, performing the following activities:

  • Support the design, implementation and continuous improvement of BBVA’s privacy program, ensuring compliance with Regulation (EU) 2016⁄679 (GDPR) and Italian data protection laws.
  • Advise BBVA on incorporating privacy principles by design and by default in new products, processes and digital channels.
  • Conduct Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) and compliance risk reviews for technological and commercial projects and other initiatives within BBVA.
  • Ensure the consistent implementation and application of regulatory controls.
  • Oversee the effectiveness of the compliance control framework, ensuring appropriate mitigation of the relevant risks.
  • Prepare regulatory reports and management information for senior compliance management.
  • Monitor regulatory developments related to privacy, identifying emerging risks and proposing enhancements.
  • Contribute to internal training initiatives on privacy and compliance for staff and business teams.
Minimum Requirements
  • University degree in Economics, Law or related disciplines.
  • At least 7 years of experience in compliance functions, including at least 5 years focused on privacy and data protection.
  • Strong knowledge of the European and Italian regulatory framework on data protection; familiarity with broader banking and financial regulations will be considered an asset.
  • Professional English level and native Italian; Spanish will be considered an asset.
  • Proven ability to interpret regulations, conduct legal analysis and draft high-quality advisory reports.
