Job Description
As Principal Engineer Firmware Engineering, you will lead cross-functional teams in developing firmware architectures, defining technical roadmaps, and ensuring alignment with organizational goals. You will be responsible for driving the end-to-end development process, from requirements engineering and design to implementation and validation, ensuring adherence to industry standards such as ASPICE, MISRA-C, and CERT-C. You will actively mentor and support team members, fostering technical excellence and collaboration across agile teams.
In your new role you will:
- Lead the development of embedded software teams, focusing on designing, implementing, and maintaining firmware components
- Ensure adherence to development quality standards by driving requirements engineering, conducting reviews, ensuring traceability, and delivering required work products to meet both project and process requirements
- Define, create, and maintain comprehensive design, testing and customer documentation
- Set up, develop, enhance, and maintain CI/CD pipelines, including test automation frameworks for various application components
- Configure and manage GitLab pipelines across multiple projects, ensuring efficient version control and continuous integration
- Implement, enhance, and maintain code quality tools such as Coverity and PCLint, ensuring that the software meets high-quality standards
- Specify, install, and configure the necessary hardware to support CI/CD infrastructure
- Oversee and manage interdependencies and integrations across multiple projects, teams, and stakeholders
- Continuously strive to improve quality and productivity by suggesting process improvements and adopting industry best practices and emerging technologies
- Collaborate with IT and other internal teams to develop scalable solutions, fostering development synergy
- Actively contribute to an agile team environment
You are a strategic leader, technical expert, and trusted collaborator dedicated to enabling innovation, driving quality, and delivering impactful firmware solutions that meet and exceed organizational objectives. With excellent communication skills, you ensure smooth collaboration with all stakeholders and make a tangible impact on the success of projects.
You are best equipped for this task if you have:
- A degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a comparable field
- At least 7+ years of experience in embedded software development with a strong background in hardware-based test automation
- Technical leadership skills to lead 1+ teams and define technical directions
- In-depth knowledge of embedded software toolchains (e.g., Clang, GCC, Make, CMake
- Strong problem-solving and debugging skills
- Comprehensive understanding of the software development life cycle, particularly within the ASPICE framework
- High proficiency in C and Python
- Familiarity MISRA-C and CERT-C
- Solid expertise with Git for version control
- Hands-on knowledge of containerization tools like Docker and expertise in pipeline automation
- Experience with infrastructure tools such as Puppet, virtual machines, and shell scripting
- Basic knowledge of Conan and Rust is an advantage
- Fluency in English
