At ERM, we are committed to supporting our Private Equity clients in decarbonizing their portfolio companies to create value and transition to a low-carbon economy. Our Decarbonization & Energy Transition Investing Team is experiencing significant growth and serves a large base of private equity and infrastructure investors. We are seeking a Principal Consultant to join our EMEA-wide team, based in Italy, with flexible working arrangements.
The Role :
- Leverage existing client relationships and develop new ones within the private markets investor space.
- Provide leadership across all levels of staff, ensuring successful delivery of decarbonization strategy projects.
Responsibilities :
- Develop strategies to pursue new business opportunities, driving revenue growth.
- Lead the origination and delivery of decarbonization projects, collaborating with ESG, climate, investment, and operational teams to develop fund plans, measure performance, and prepare for exits.
- Design and implement 'Investment Grade' decarbonization plans in line with client goals and broader ESG targets.
- Manage multidisciplinary teams across ERM's expertise groups.
- Provide guidance on translating decarbonization initiatives into long-term value creation.
- Conduct climate-focused due diligence to enhance value and mitigate risks.
About You :
- Fluent in English and Italian.
- Proven experience in delivering investment-grade decarbonization plans with detailed ROI and MACC analysis.
- Deep understanding of operational decarbonization projects within private equity and infrastructure contexts.
- Expertise in energy efficiency, renewable procurement, low-carbon solutions, and sustainable value chains.
- Desirable: Knowledge of private equity/infrastructure operations, C-suite engagement, GHG inventories, decarbonization roadmaps, SBTs, impact measurement standards, and related certifications.
