Short description of the position/project: The project “Roles of the RIOK1-PRMT5-MEP50-CENP-F axis in health, disease, and therapy” (REFRESH) funded under the Research Südtirol/Alto Adige 2024 call with CUP D53C25003920003 supports the recruitment of a postdoctoral researcher in the Biostatistics & Epidemiology Group. The role aims to strengthen the group’s capacity to perform causal inference analyses on high-dimensional molecular data, integrating transcriptomic, proteomic, and clinical data from population studies and biobanks.
Responsibilities and Expectations:
Develop analysis plans to identify causal molecular pathways using advanced Mendelian randomization or other causal analysis methods. Access and explore omics datasets (transcriptomics, proteomics, etc.) with standard and advanced tools. Develop or extend statistical and causal inference methodologies to address biologically motivated questions. Collaborate with national and international project partners. Disseminate scientific results at conferences and through publications. Contribute to the ordinary operations and management of the Epidemiology & Biostatistics group.
Requirements:
PhD in Statistics, Biostatistics, Genetic Epidemiology, Bioinformatics or a strictly related Health Data Science discipline. Experience with Mendelian randomization or related causal inference methods. Experience handling and conducting statistical analyses of large-scale -omics data. Experience with R and/or Python, and familiarity with the Linux environment. Experience accessing large biobank data (e.g., GTEx). Ability to think independently, proactively, and with a problem-solving attitude. Ability to work in international teams. Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
We offer:
A full‑time fixed‑term contract for 33 months, expected to start in January 2027 or earlier. Gross annual salary ranging from €44,247.32 to €46,566.16. Workplace: Eurac Research NOI Techpark, Via A.
