We are currently looking for a Product Development R&D Specialist . How you will contribute: The resource will join the Product Development Department, reporting to the Product Development Operations and R&D Manager. The role is responsible for conducting research, developing new techniques or finding materials to meet market demands and business goals. This includes Pure Research (free supplier and material scouting) and Applied Research (brief-driven) across application areas: High Jewellery (one of a kind pieces), Premium Jewellery, and Fine Jewellery.
Design, develop, and test new materials, processes, or technologies.
Create and test prototypes using 3D software and other modeling tools.
Collaborate with departments such as creativity, engineering and marketing to align R&D efforts with business objectives.
Document research findings, methodologies, and product specifications.
Present research outcomes and product proposals to stakeholders.
Ensure all R&D activities comply with relevant and internal regulations and ethical standards.
Manage project timelines and budgets, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery.
Conduct in-depth research to identify market trends, emerging technologies, new materials and innovation opportunities.
Supplier Scouting: Research new suppliers offering innovative and sustainable materials.
Supplier Engagement: Visits to suppliers and sampling of Pomellato shapes.
Testing & Analysis: Laboratory testing (physical, chemical, waterproofing, durability, resistance) supported by internal lab.
Data Management and Physical Storage: Archiving all physical samples in dedicated storage and digitally managing related data, certificates, and test results through DAM (Digital Asset Management) platform.
Materials handled: approximately an archive of 30 materials.
Suppliers involved: approximately 50, with about 5 new suppliers per year to implement.
Processes/techniques analyzed: approximately 2 new techniques/processes per year to explore and deepen.
Relationship management: Build and maintain strong supplier relationships to foster collaboration.
Master’s degree in Materials Engineering, or similar
At least a couple of years of working experience
Good interpersonal skills
Detail oriented with strong organizational skills
Positive attitude with proactive attitude
Team work orientation
Ability to work with 3D design software and Office programs
