About Ephos
Ephos manufactures photonic chips on glass to solve the critical power and bandwidth bottlenecks in AI chips. In three years since its founding, Ephos has delivered chips to leading global firms and is building a new fabrication facility to scale production. This expansion is backed by a $50M EU Chips Act grant—the first ever awarded to a startup.
The role
As a Photonics Intern at Ephos, you will be a full-time member of our engineering team. Your work will span from R&D to manufacturing for our clients. Key activities include:
- Manufacturing and characterizing photonic circuits.
- Designing custom 3D-printed components.
- Optimizing and automating existing processes and protocols.
- Developing Python libraries for communication with photonic and electronic instruments.
Program details
- 6-month paid internship.
- €2,000 gross salary per month.
- 4 days/week on-site in Milan, 1 day/week remote.
- English is our working language and Italian is not required.

Program requirements
- You're currently enrolled in a Master's degree in Photonic Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
- Familiarity with photonics.
- Familiarity with artificial intelligence.
- Available to participate in the full 6-month duration of the program.
