The opportunity
We are looking for a Senior Photonics Application Engineer to join a highly specialised team. This role is ideal for an experienced professional with a strong background in photonics, optical simulation, and optoelectronic systems , able to combine technical expertise with customer-facing skills and support the adoption of advanced simulation technologies across industrial applications.
With offices in Bergamo, Turin, Florence, and Lecce , and a hybrid model with 3 days remote working per week , this opportunity is also well suited to candidates who may live within reach of one of these locations and are looking for flexibility alongside a highly technical role.
Key responsibilities
- Promote and support the adoption of advanced photonics and optical simulation solutions
- Provide technical expertise during customer meetings and support the sales team in engineering discussions
- Collaborate closely with sales and marketing teams to support product positioning and distribution strategies
- Monitor customer software usage, offering continuous support and helping clients strengthen their technical capabilities
- Act as a trusted technical advisor on complex photonics, optical and optoelectronic engineering challenges
Ideal profile
- Senior-level experience in Photonics, Optical Engineering, or Optoelectronics
- Strong background in photonics simulation and modelling
- Strong knowledge of Lumerical
- Experience with Zemax would be highly preferred
- Familiarity with other CAE tools would be considered a plus
- Strong customer focus, with excellent organisational and time management skills
- Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing
- Collaborative, team-oriented approach and willingness to share knowledge
- Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and meet deadlines
- Curious, innovative, and solution-driven mindset
- Availability to travel mainly within Italy for customer support and client meetings
- Fluency in English
