JOB PURPOSE:
The role of the Payroll Intern is to provide an all-round support to the HR and Finance department in Payroll processing, Time& Attendance, administer workforce, administer benefits policies, answering employee inquiries, G/L entries and reconciliations, employee relations and file maintenance.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Set up and maintain files on all new employees and terminated employees.
- Maintain time clocks and associated software to gather timely Time & Attendance data.
- Collect, control and administer Travel & Expenses claims.
- Provide support in monitoring and control Payroll process cycles.
- Interact with ADP payroll provider to collect and validate data (T&A, T&E, Compensation, Allowances, rewards, bonus, others).
- Handle various payroll adjustments (i.e., shortages, garnishments, and bonus pay).
- Prepare and maintain non-wage compensation entries and files (education assistance, group-term life, sales prizes, employee excellence awards, personal use of company car, moving expenses).
- Prepare monthly payroll summary information for entry to General Ledger.
- Prepare periodic payroll related analyses and reports as requested by Managers.
- Provide general administration and Human Resources support.
- Answer routine inquiries from outside the company on employment verifications.
- Provide assistance in the design and administration of the company’s benefit programs. This includes answering employee questions, day-to-day benefit administration, new hire orientation, Leave of Absence administration.
- Prepare periodic reports of earnings, taxes and deductions.
- Interact independently with supervisors, personnel department, outside payroll service, and other related providers and professional services.
- Track and process taxable fringe benefits.
- Track vacation eligibility and vacation balances.
- Reconcile payroll GL accounts.
- Assure Journal entries about T&E and HR costs.
- Calculate, control and file employee wage verifications.
- Assists in the analysis of HR data and implementation of the annual merit program.
QUALIFICATION REQUIRED FOR POSITION:
Education and qualification:
- Bachelor’s Degree.
- Qualified Payroll or equivalent is required with two to three years of relevant experience.
- Intermediate knowledge of Excel.
- Detail and Process oriented.
- Strong sense of urgency and follow up skills.
- Multinational experience with manufacturing companies is a plus.
- Position requires good interpersonal skills in dealing with team members at all levels in the company.
- Ability to multitask and willingness to take on new responsibilities.
- Some level of verbal and written communication skills in English required.
