The Payload System Engineer will join the team to enlarge the product portfolio on board Sitael Platforms, focusing on optical passive payload. The Job position includes understanding the payload performance with respect to mission needs as well as new payloads development and supporting the accommodation of already existing/under development payload from strategical partnerships. He/she will drive technical procurement and support payload life cycle management.
The candidate will act as payload system engineer and will collaborate with platform system engineers in order to assure the compliance of all interfaces up to the satellite launch. The candidate is required to understand all system engineering disciplines and to interact with thermo-mechanical, electronics, software departments, to support the strategic development of Assembly Integration and Verification Plan.
After the design phase he/she will act as technical reference for the payload in the satellite team and he/she will directly execute the activities on Engineering Model first and then support the integration and test campaign at satellite of Flight Models.
He/she will join a team of system engineers and will reports to the project technical manager and/or to the line manager.
Responsibilities
- Analysis of system level specifications
- Definition of payload specifications
- Definition of payload architecture and budgets with focus to platform interfaces and mission needs
- Outline the Optical Payload Architecture
- Support the definition of payload user requirements toward satellite
- Support to payload FDIR Concept and Architecture
- Participation in the procurement process, by the definition of Statement of Work, participation in technical meetings, review of technical documentation
- Participation in the development process, by the definition and Design and Development Plan, coordination of technical meetings, review of technical documentation and support to the planning of the development activities
- Support to the system AIV and AIT definition
Technical Skills, Qualifications and Professional Experience
- The candidate should possess a minimum of five years' experience in optical payload system engineering and demonstrate a strong technical focus, while also showing openness to learning and sharing expertise.
- Knowledge of optics and optical payload performance
- Knowledge of detectors, focal plane assembly
- Knowledge of opto-mechanics
- Knowledge of Matlab toolbox and data analysis experience
- Experience of optical payload integration and testing will be considered an asset
- Knowledge of space ECSS will be considered an asset
