Patent Counsel

Experteer Overview

As Patent Counsel, you help build and protect Hitachi Energy’s IP around sustainable products, collaborating with a global team to draft, file, and defend patents. You will identify invention opportunities, align filings with the IP roadmap, and coordinate with external counsel to manage a strategic portfolio. You’ll lead global risk management and IP education initiatives across R&D. This role supports the energy transition by safeguarding innovative technologies in transformers and high voltage products.

• Advise on invention disclosures and identify IP opportunities aligned with strategy
• Draft, file, prosecute patent applications and maintain/defend patent rights with external counsel
• Manage external supplier engagements for technical, legal, and cost aspects
• Lead global risk management across jurisdictions and monitor competitor patent activity
• Educate and drive IP awareness and decisions through programs with R&D and Strategic IP Counsels
• Contribute to projects to improve IP awareness and performance

Responsabilità

• Part or Newly-Qualified European Patent Attorney
• experience and a degree in electrical engineering, electronics, physics or mechanical engineering
• minimum 3 years of work experience in law firm or industry focusing on electrical/mechanical inventions
• analytical skills and broad technical expertise
• flexible, self-driven, proactive, capable of global collaboration
• strong communication skills
• fluent in written and spoken English
