You will serve as a PARALEGAL SPECIALIST in the Force Judge Advocate (FJA) of Commander, U.S. Naval Forces Europe and Africa.

GS-11

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-9 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:

  • Utilizing various laws, principles, concepts, and methods of legal research, to include automated legal research systems (i.e., Lexis Nexis) and legal reference sources to perform complex level research;
  • Performing extensive legal research into legislative history, precedents, decisions, and opinions that may be applicable to identifying and locating relevant facts and preparing analyses of finding;
  • Analyzing and evaluating issues raised by staff using various complex laws and regulations in the fields of administrative, civil, personnel, and international law;
  • In-depth knowledge in the application of rules and regulations in the field of ethics to include Joint Ethics Regulations, Ethics in Government Act of 1978, and the Ethics Reform Act of 1989 to render recommendations, opinions, and advice on ethics matters;
  • In-depth knowledge in the application of rules and regulations relating to the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) and be able to effectively manage the FOIA program.

GS-09

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:

  • Analyzing reports, testimonies, and/or interviews to compile legal files and legal findings;
  • Resolving legal issues by utilizing knowledge of litigation activities of the agency;
  • Developing evidence to support the legal services activities by interviewing individuals;
  • Preparing legal correspondence or documents according to legal and/or appropriate standards or regulations.
