We are seeking an experienced and driven Operations Director – Italy to lead and develop our data centre operations. This is a key leadership role within the Operations Management Team, with full profit and loss responsibility for country-based operations.
The successful candidate will oversee day-to-day operations, ensure 100% uptime , maintain high-quality standards, and drive continuous improvement. You will play a critical role in shaping operational strategy, managing teams, and strengthening customer relationships while ensuring compliance with all regulatory and organisational standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and develop high-performing teams as the business grows, including hands‑on involvement when required
- Ensure smooth, efficient, and high-quality data centre operations
- Monitor and achieve all operational KPIs and performance metrics
- Optimise workflows and throughput across data centre operations
- Drive team engagement, performance, and a strong customer service culture
- Recruit, train, coach, and mentor team members while managing performance and development
- Develop and execute strategic plans aligned with corporate objectives
- Manage budgets, resources, and operational performance (CAPEX/OPEX)
- Establish and maintain processes to ensure uptime, reliability, and customer satisfaction
- Strengthen company brand and culture through stakeholder engagement (customers, government, community)
- Ensure compliance with statutory regulations, ISO standards, and internal policies
- Oversee operational project portfolios to ensure consistency and alignment
- Contribute to overall business development and growth initiatives
- Lead supplier management, including negotiations and performance evaluation
- Supervise incident, problem, and change management processes
- Maintain lifecycle tracking and risk management registers
- Identify and report non-conformities and ensure corrective actions
- Support development and accuracy of operational documentation
Skills & Experience
- Proven experience in developing operational functions and implementing processes aligned with company strategy
- Strong background in financial planning, performance reviews, and operational efficiency
- Experience managing 24/7 critical operations environments
- Demonstrated success in driving process improvement initiatives
- Strong leadership, decision‑making, and strategic planning capabilities
- Excellent people management, coaching, and mentoring skills
- Strong understanding of IT infrastructure and data centre operations
Education & Qualifications
- Minimum 7 years’ experience in Data Centre operations or 10 years in a similar critical operations role
- High School Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or related discipline
- Strong technical competence with excellent problem‑solving skills
- Proven leadership and team management experience
- Ability to perform under pressure and make critical decisions
- Customer‑focused with strong stakeholder management skills
- Knowledge of ISO Management Systems and related technologies
- Strong commitment to safety and environmental standards
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
- Fluent in English and Italian
