Operational Technology Manager

We are looking for a digital oriented candidate (f/m/n) with an electrical / IT background and a strategic digital mindset to cover the position of Operational Technology Manager - based in Ternate (VA) and reporting to the Head of Cement Manufacturing Italy.

The mission

In the heart of a cutting-edge industrial environment undergoing digital transformation, your mission is to guarantee the integrity, performance, and security of the plant’s control systems and industrial networks and acts as the bridge between production operations and digital infrastructure while driving the industrial cybersecurity strategy.

Main Responsibilities

• OT Infrastructure Maintenance: maintain and ensure the integrity and performance of the site’s OT infrastructure, including control systems for kilns, mills, and terminals
• Technical Implementation: implement and monitor industrial cybersecurity measures in compliance with Group standards
• Project Support: support technological modernization, automation, and digitalization projects (such as "Smart Operations" and "Plant of Tomorrow") to improve efficiency and productivity
• Operational Optimization: work closely with production teams for the operational optimization of the plant
• Technical Support: provide level 2 technical support to ensure the service continuity of critical assets
• Lifecycle Assessment: assess equipment lifecycles (obsolescence) and report findings to inform future capital expenditure (CAPEX) planning
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: work in coordination with Maintenance, Electrical, and IT departments to maximize the reliability of industrial data
• Team Collaboration: collaborate with the automation engineering team on technical interventions and knowledge sharing

Profile

• Education: Electrical Engineering degree or Industrial Automation, Industrial IT, or Electronics.
• Experience: At least 3-5 years of proven experience managing industrial systems (DCS, PLC, SCADA) in critical environments

Technical and Functional skills

• Technical Expertise: advanced knowledge of industrial networks and communication protocols (Ethernet/IP, Modbus, OPC, etc.)
• Standards: strong knowledge of industrial cybersecurity standards (e.g., IEC 62443)
• Tech. Skills: expertise in instrumentation is a plus
• Project Management: ability to lead complex cross-functional projects with a solution-oriented approach
• Tools: proficient with advanced IT tools and maintenance management systems (SAP)
• Languages: good knowledge of spoken/written English is required; German is a plus
