The Global Network Delivery organization is looking to hire a highly motivated, best-in-class Network Project Lead to join our growing team within AWS Data Center Delivery. The candidate will work with minimum supervision in a dynamic environment to drive the stability and sustainability of our next‑generation networks and to develop innovative ways to automate and scale our network as we expand.
The position responsibilities will include scaling support of several data center locations and be responsible for day‑to‑day assistance with capacity management. The Network Project Lead will work closely with both internal stakeholders and external vendors to facilitate smooth project execution as directed by Technical Program Managers, Network Deployment Planning team, infrastructure supply chain & procurement, and network engineering team.
The ideal candidate will possess a technology background that enables them to understand the complexities of the sophisticated network architecture of Amazon data centers. To be a qualified candidate you must be highly autonomous, detail oriented, possess strong written and verbal communication skills and have experience in managing network deployment projects. They will be competent in networking principles, data center operations, cable infrastructure and fiber solutions.
This position will provide the individual with high levels of autonomous work with minimal supervision to drive the stability and sustainability of our next‑generation networks and to assist in the development of innovative ways to automate and scale our network as we expand. The desire and ability to work in a fast paced, ambiguous, collaborative environment is essential for success.
In addition, this role may require international travels to support other cluster’s projects.
Key job responsibilities
- Strategic Planning & Design Management - Contribute in developing comprehensive 6‑8 month network implementation roadmaps aligned with AWS DC expansion targets
- Create and optimize network position layouts and rack placement strategies for data centre floor space utilization
- Review and contribute to High‑Level Design (HLD) documentation
- Coordinate with engineering teams to validate technical requirements and design specifications
- Develop capacity planning models to ensure infrastructure scalability
- Create standardized planning templates and methodologies for network implementations
 
- Project & Resource Management - Lead end‑to‑end project planning for multiple concurrent network implementation initiatives
- Develop and maintain detailed project schedules, milestones, and dependencies
- Manage project scope, and quality parameters
- Conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies
- Improvise and optimize planning by incorporating lessons learned from latest deployed projects, iteratively
- Coordinate across cross‑functional teams to ensure alignment on project deliverables
- Track and report weekly project progress and/or otherwise informed to key stakeholders
 
- Supply Chain & Inventory Planning - Develop project inventory forecasts and requirements
- Optimize developed counts by utilizing prior surplus spares
- Coordinate with procurement teams for strategic resource acquisition
- Manage vendor relationships and delivery schedules
- Establish and stick to procurement timelines aligned with project schedules
 
- Program Governance & Process Excellence - Establish and maintain project management frameworks and best practices
- Develop sustainable and repeatable planning processes
- Create and maintain project documentation and reporting standards
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives in planning methodologies
- Build and maintain stakeholder communication channels
- Coordinate with regional teams for standardized planning approaches and optimized lesson‑learned based iterative optimized planning
 
Basic Qualifications
- Proven experience driving continuous improvement and managing cross‑functional teams to deliver scalable solutions
- Strong analytical skills and multi‑tasking ability, with proven success in data‑driven decision making and stakeholder management at all levels
- Expertise in network infrastructure, including cabling systems, fiber optics, diagnostic tools, and network fundamentals. The ideal candidate will leverage this technical knowledge to lead teams and optimize project delivery
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree in IT‑related field or equivalent experience, with relevant professional certifications and 5+ years of network infrastructure experience
- Proven track record of minimum 2 years managing large‑scale, complex network implementation projects in telecommunications or network deployments
- Strong knowledge of network hardware, infrastructure, and industry‑standard deployment practices
- Proven project management skills including budgeting, risk management, and resource planning. Strong organizational abilities and willingness to travel required
- Strong leadership, communication, and analytical skills, with experience in project scheduling and stakeholder management. Vendor management experience preferred
