The project:

Terra Innovatum's mission is to make nuclear power accessible. We deliver simple and safe micro-reactor solutions that are scalable, affordable and deployable anywhere 1 Mwe at a time.

You will be joining a fast-growing scaleup developing SOLO – a micro modular reactor – able to provide clean energy and radioisotopes where it is needed. You will be supporting the reactor licensing process in the US at first.

You will support the founding team to scaleup the company to a leading tech company supplying much needed energy solutions globally.

What you will be working on

At Terra Innovatum Nuclear Reactor Engineer will be:

- responsible for the design, operation, maintenance, and safety of nuclear reactors

- analyzing reactor performance, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and developing improvements to reactor systems to enhance efficiency and safety

- working closely with regulatory agencies, technicians, and other engineers to maintain safe and reliable reactor operations

What you will be in charge of:

  • Designing, analyzing, and optimizing nuclear reactor systems and components.
  • Monitoring reactor performance and ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
  • Conducting neutronic analysis to support reactor design, optimization and operation (criticality analysis, burnup-up calculation, cross sections calculation, flux evaluation, dose calculation).
  • Working with licensing and regulatory agencies to maintain compliance with NRC (Nuclear Regulatory Commission) and other relevant regulations.
  • Participating in reactor fuel management, including core design and fuel cycle analysis.
  • Assisting in the development of new reactor technologies and improvements to existing designs.
  • Developing shielding calculations and assess the effectiveness of radiation barriers
  • Investigate radiation incidents, perform dose reconstructions, and recommend corrective actions
  • Conducting risk assessments and failure mode analysis for reactor components.
  • Providing technical support and training to operators and others.
  • Writing reports, documentation, and technical proposals related to reactor operations and design.

Who we want to work with:

  • Education: Master degree in Nuclear Engineering or related field
  • Advanced knowledge of reactor physics.
  • Familiarity with nuclear reactor simulation software (e.g., SERPENT, MCNP, SCALE, PARCS, PHYSICS)
  • Understanding of nuclear regulatory requirements and safety protocols.
  • Ability to analyze and troubleshoot reactor systems using technical data.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
  • Effective communication skills for collaboration with teams and regulatory bodies.
  • Attention to detail and strong commitment to safety and compliance.
  • Ability to work under pressure in high-stakes environments.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills
  • Results-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English

Preferred:

  • PhD degree
  • IPO experience
  • Written and oral fluency in Italian
  • Ability to build relationships and influence at all levels of the organization
