Job Title - Network System Engineer
Location - Milan, Italy
Experience - 8-10 years
The candidate should be fluent Italian speaking, reading, writing
- Switching (L2/L3):
Configure and troubleshoot VLANs, trunks, inter-VLAN routing, and Spanning Tree Protocol (STP). Implement link aggregation technologies like EtherChannel or Port Channel to enhance network resilience and bandwidth. - Switch Management:
Perform firmware and operating system upgrades on switches in a live production environment with minimal disruption. - Hardware Replacement:
Execute seamless replacement of failed network equipment, including switches, by restoring configurations and ensuring swift network restoration to avoid major downtime. - Firewall Administration:
Manage enterprise-grade firewalls (e.G., Cisco ASA, Fortinet, Palo Alto, Checkpoint). This includes configuring and maintaining firewall policies, Network Address Translation (NAT/PAT), and various VPN configurations (site-to-site, remote access). - Project Management:
Plan and execute network projects, such as hardware refreshes, firewall migrations, and datacenter moves. - Documentation:
Create and maintain comprehensive network documentation, including High-Level Designs (HLD), Low-Level Designs (LLD), and detailed network diagrams using tools like MS Visio or SolarWinds Topology Mapper .
Qualifications
- Experience:
Proven experience in configuring and troubleshooting L2/L3 switching protocols, including STP and EtherChannel/Port Channel. - Technical Skills:
Proficient in managing and upgrading network equipment. - Problem-Solving:
Demonstrated ability to quickly and effectively replace failed network devices and restore services. - Firewall Expertise:
Hands-on experience with enterprise firewalls and their associated technologies (NAT/PAT, VPNs). - Project Skills:
Experience in planning and leading network infrastructure projects. - Documentation Skills:
Ability to create clear and detailed technical documentation.
